| GARY Barlow is to record a version of classic George Harrison hit Here Comes The Sun — for Marks & Spencer.
The X Factor judge has tied up a deal with the chain for its summer advertising campaign.
A source said he will fly to South Africa on Friday to begin filming with M&S models Twiggy, Dannii Minogue, Lisa Snowdon, Noemie Lenoir and Jamie Redknapp.
They will appear at a traditional British tea party for the campaign. And it will feature Gary singing Harrison's hit — written for The Beatles' 1969 Abbey Road album. An M&S insider said: "It's hard to improve on perfection but Gary's certain to give the song a modern twist.
"They hope it's going to be the anthem of the summer."
M&S bosses are looking at selling the single once their 'A Summer To Remember' campaign begins on TV at the start of April.
A spokeswoman refused to reveal details of the campaign, adding: "You will just have to wait and see." But an industry source said: "M&S will be spitting that this is out.
"They are desperate to keep it under wraps."
M&S are famous for their glitzy ads, but suffered a drubbing at the hands of John Lewis over Christmas.
The department store cleaned up with an ad featuring seven year-old Lewis McGowan counting down the hours until he could give his parents a prezzie.

“We would like a boy this time but whatever happens is fine.

GARY Barlow was on a jumbo jet bound for South Africa that turned back yesterday — after ELEVEN cabin crew fell ill.
The X Factor judge, 41, was a quarter of the way to Cape Town when the British Airways staff began keeling over.
Last night the airline rubbished rumours the 747 suffered a lack of oxygen — but refused to say if dodgy food had sparked the sickness outbreak.
Gary was heading out to film a Marks & Spencer ad days after The Sun revealed he is to record a version of George Harrison's Here Comes The Sun for the store chain.
The pilot was three hours into the 12-hour flight when he radioed controllers to say he was returning to Heathrow.
Gary told online how the jet then flew back. The Take That star — who was due to catch another flight last night — said: "Not a good start."
A source said: "It was like something out of the comedy film Airplane. We had dinner, fell asleep then woke up expecting to see the sunrise in Africa. Next thing we opened the blinds and there was London."
BA confirmed: "The aircraft had to return due to several cabin crew feeling unwell.
"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience to customers for the delay to their journey."

| 'Worth the drama!' After a dramatic flight, Gary Barlow finally makes it to South Africa... and wastes no time sharing his pictures
His journey to South Africa didn't exactly go smoothly, when his flight was forced to turn around after 11 of the cabin crew fell mysteriously ill.
But after finally making it to his destination, Gary Barlow was quick to share pictures of his holiday on his Twitter page.
The X Factor judge posted a shot of himself at the top of iconic landmark Table Mountain this afternoon, after earlier having tweeted: 'Well I made it to Cape Town.It was worth all the drama.Beautiful place.'
In the picture, Barlow, who is in South Africa to film an advert for Marks and Spencer, is seen wearing a white and blue striped T-shirt and sunglasses as he sits against the backdrop of the stunning view from Table Mountain.
Barlow later wrote on his Twitter page: 'Wow,so many of you have been here.
'In future I'll ask for tricks and tips before I travel #gbarmy.'
The 41-year-old singer had a less than successful trip to South Africa after his British Airways flight on Wednesday night was turned around when crew members started to fall ill.
BA is carrying out an investigation but confirmed no fault was found on the plane or its oxygen system and has returned it to service.
The airline has also ruled out poisoning from food consumed on the flight because none of the 15 cabin crew on board had eaten anything before the symptoms struck.
The puzzling incident does not seem to have affected flight crew or any passengers.
The pilot of the 747 was a quarter of the way into the 12-hour flight when he made the decision to return to London Heathrow.
A spokesperson for BA told MailOnline earlier this week: 'There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that the food on board was to blame as the cabin crew would not have been eating.'
'We are still investigating the situation, and of course the safety of our customers and crew will always be our overriding priority.'

| Gary and Robbie to be "friends forever"
Gary Barlow has offered to write tracks for Robbie Williams if he goes through a "sticky patch" while putting together his latest solo album.
Patience singer Gary - who was estranged from his Take That bandmate until they reconciled in 2010 - is constantly writing new songs, and though he knows the Rudebox singer is capable of penning his own material, is happy to help if needed.
He said: "I've written some stuff already, actually, with Rob.
"I mean, Rob writes all year round. But I always said to him, 'If you get a sticky patch or whatever, I'll come in and reignite all that stuff'.
"I'm someone who's always creating, writing - I've always got ideas. So he can use me whenever he wants."
Robbie returned to Take That for an album and tour last year and although he is now going back to his solo career, Gary believes they will be friends forever after patching up their differences.
He added to the Daily Telegraph: "I do feel like it wasn't just an 18-month thing with me and Rob. I think we'll be friends forever now."
At the end of last year's Progress Live tour, Gary promised the rest of Take That - Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange - a year off, but still stays in contact with his band mates socially.
He said: "I promised everybody a year off. Cause we've pretty much done album, tour, album, tour for five years. So I said to everyone as we left the tour, 'I'll call you in a year.'
"Of course, I've called 'em all. But we haven't talked about music!"

| Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole is has reportedly turned to X Factor judge Gary Barlow to help her get into shape.
According to Star magazine, Cheryl wants to lose a stone and get fit in preparation for a live arena tour later this year.
The publication claims that Cheryl has asked popstar pal Gary for a hand, as well as tips from the Take That star’s personal chef!
“She still loves the odd chocolate bar. But now, instead of eating so much junk good, it’s green beans, protein, low carbs and water all the way,” a supposed insider says.
The source claims that Cheryl wants to get into shape and put a spectacular show for crowds at venues including London’s O2 Arena.
“Cheryl has turned to friends like Gary in a bid to reach her peak,” the spy goes on. “She has started running, as Gary told her he finds the activity very beneficial.
“She’s paying a top notch personal trainer to work with her daily and she’s doing loads of cardio combined with weight training.”
Cheryl, a former X Factor judge herself, has been busy in the studio recording her third solo album which is expected to be released in the coming months.
While no tour has yet been announced, it’s certainly something fans want, with the term ‘CherylTour’ trending on Twitter earlier this week.

| Jason Donovan has claimed that pal Gary Barlow secretly wants to take part in Strictly Come Dancing, if it wasn’t for his judging role on The X Factor!
Jason, who took part in the BBC One dance contest last year, teased that Take That star Gary would love the sequins and spray tans.
He told the Evening Standard: “Gary loves his sequins and spray tans.
“I think secretly he fancies himself as a dancer on Strictly.”
West End musical star Jason also revealed he’d love to team up with Gary for a duet in the future, but admitted he wouldn’t want to ruin their friendship.
He explained: “You never know, but ours is a friendship, not a professional relationship. You’ve got to be careful that the two don’t end up overlapping.”
Both Strictly and The X Factor will return to TV in the autumn.

| He told the Daily Star newspaper: “I wasn’t a deep and emotional person to start with. But now I am just a jabbering wreck – I can’t even watch a Disney film without crying.”
The ‘Back For Good’ singer had a brush with depression following the collapse of Take That in 1996 and the subsequent flop of his solo career.
He confessed: "It was all a bit of a torment. I had this beautiful white piano, my lucky piano. Every hit I'd had I'd written on this piano.
“Within six months of this not happening any more, this piano drove me mad. To the point where I spent days just looking at it, lying underneath it, lying on top of it, rubbing my face on it, going slowly insane, trying to work out why this thing wasn't delivering to me like it used to.”
Explaining how he gained 70lbs in a subconscious effort to sabotage his career, he told The Guardian newspaper: "It was like: now I'll never get back onstage, because I look like this. Job done! I think maybe it was [depression] – and I'm not really a depressive person."

| Legendary singer and Nyatiti player Ayub Ogada recorded with English singer and reality show judge Gary Barlow during his short Kenyan visit. Gary was in Kenya looking for a sound to incorporate in a song that will be performed outside Buckingham Palace on June 4 at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert. Ayub is famed for his hit Kothbiro that was used as a soundtrack for the movie Constant Gardner. Gary spoke to UK Radio 2 Breakfast Show. He said of the Kenyan visit, “We started at Treetops which interestingly is where the queen started her reign, she found out she was going to be queen right here. So I came here for a bit of inspiration to try and start and finish the lyric."
The X Factor judge recorded a Maasai dance and song, and “then hooked up with a professional musician Ayub who plays the Nyatiti; it is a really beautiful sound.” Ayub was recommended to Gary by Singing Wells Project which is a collaboration between a small record label in London, Abubilla Music, and Nairobi’s Ketebul Music. It’s an initiative which aims to record, celebrate and share the traditional music of Kenya.
In their website, the organisation wrote: “We have to admit to playing a small but hopefully significant part in Gary’s search for talented Kenyan musicians. We were asked by Gary’s production team for some advice about Kenyan music and our very own Andy Patterson suggested Ayub Ogada who we met in 2011 just as Singing Wells was launched.”

The singer is recruiting musicians from across the Commonwealth to play on a tune in honour of the Queen.
While in the Caribbean, Gary tapped up the reggae star's widow, Rita, for her contacts.
Gary said: "We went across the island recording musicians. Meeting Bob Marley's wife was a privilege."

The ‘Celebrity Juice’ host – also known as Leigh Francis – joked that the Take That frontman won’t leave him alone since he appeared in ‘Keith Lemon: The Movie’, and he is worried the new friendship could ruin his previous bromance with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star Jason Donovan.
He told Closer magazine: “Gary’s become obsessed with me. He keeps texting me to say what a great bloke I am.
“It’s a serious bromance – I’m worried Jason might feel left on the shelf.”
Keith’s upcoming movie also features rapper Tinchy Stryder and model Kelly Brook, and the ‘Number One’ hitmaker recent admitted they had “so much fun” on set.
Tinchy said: “Kelly was so much fun, we’d just constantly joke around and stuff. They told me to come dressed in a toga. I was a bit confused! But when I got there Kelly had one on, and she actually looked really cool.”

| British pop star Gary Barlow is stranded in the Solomon Islands as the region braces itself for a cyclone.
The Take That star is currently touring the world looking for inspiration for his collaboration with Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber to mark Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, and his trip around the Commonwealth states has taken him to the Solomon Islands, east of Papua New Guinea.
However, Barlow and his crew are stranded on a remote island as weather reports predict tropical storms will hit the region over the next few days.
The star told fans of his predicament in a post in his Twitter.com page on Saturday (31Apr12), writing, "We're stranded on an island in the Solomons. There's a cyclone heading our way and there's no way off. Gonna have to sit it out!!"
Barlow's trip previously hit headlines when a passenger on his flight to South Africa fell ill, forcing the plane to turn around and head back to Britain. The incident delayed the start of the singer's tour.

M&S is promising its customer a real summer to remember this week, as it launches its brand new summer advertising campaign.
Airing for the first time tomorrow, the centre piece of the campaign is a beautifully shot TV ad that takes customers on a journey through the perfect British summer - including a fun filled garden party hosted by all time favourite M&S model Twiggy. All of this is accompanied by an exclusively recorded cover of the George Harrison summer classic, Here Comes The Sun - sung by Gary Barlow.
Other much loved M&S celebs Myleene Klass, Dannii Minogue, Noemie Lenoir, Lisa Snowdon and Jamie Redknapp also feature in the ad, which captures the sense of nostalgia and romance that is typically associated with a lazy summer day.
The gang are seen enjoying a selection of quintessentially British pastimes - from a traditional egg and spoon race to a game of garden tennis - that climaxes with a good old fashioned bonfire sing-a-long. The twist is that the music is provided by Gary himself.
Steve Sharp, Executive Director of Marketing at M&S, said: "It's going to be the summer of a lifetime for our customers and we want to do something extra special to mark this celebratory year. Using the strap line, On your Marks for a summer to remember, each scene focuses on simple celebrations with friends and family. A 60" and 90" edit will each showcase how M&S food, homeware and fashion will add the finishing touches to this summer's special events - however you chose to celebrate.
The ad will air for the first time during Wednesday 4 April's episode of Emmerdale. However, M&S fans can receive a sneak preview by visiting the retailer's website from early Wednesday morning.

| Gary Barlow's early tape recordings auctioned in Leeds for £800

Unreleased tape recordings made by Take That's Gary Barlow in the 1980s have sold at auction for £800.
The two cassette tapes contain two hours of songs recorded between 1986 and 1987 - years before the singer joined the famous boyband.
Leeds-based auctioneer Gary Don said the tapes had attracted "a tremendous amount of interest". They were sold to a telephone bidder.
They had previously sold by a family friend for £1,900 at auction in 1996.
The tapes feature 32 tracks, made up of some original material as well as covers including Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel, Chris De Burgh's Lady In Red, and Ghostriders In The Sky by The Shadows.
The music was recorded when he was 15 years old and given to a fan and family friend, who later sold them at Christie's auction house in London.
They were bought by film producer Richard Driscoll, who decided to sell them. He had originally hoped the tapes would fetch £2,000 but said he was not too concerned by the loss.
"I'm not going to get upset about it, it's just one of those things. Sometimes that happens when you're a collector," said Mr Driscoll.
"It's better than nothing."
'Fantastic fan'
Mr Don said the considerable drop in price since 1996 was understandable given the lack of cassette players currently on the market and the quality of the recording.
"It's really unusual to come across this kind of sale," said Mr Don.
"He had a fantastic fan that used to go to all his gigs so he just gave her these tapes and said to her one day, 'put these in the bank, these might be worth a lot of money'."
The sale also included an autograph by Gary Barlow, a catalogue of the original auction at Christie's and a bill from that sale.

X FACTOR judge Gary Barlow hopes the Take That baby boom will rock the next generation of pop.
Mark Owen’s revelation last week that wife Emma is expecting their third child made him the third dad-to-be in the band.
The news came days after Robbie William revealed his wife, Ayda, was pregnant with their first.
And Gary’s missus Dawn is expecting their fourth child. Asked about their growing families, the singer-songwriter said: “It’s amazing isn’t it? A new band is forming.”
Gary, who has a son and two daughters, confessed he was hoping for another boy during an online Q&A session on Twitter.
And when a cheeky fan asked him what age his balls dropped, the Manchester-born star quipped: “22.”
Gary also shared pictures of his recent trip to the Solomon Islands on his Commonwealth tour for a documentary for the Queen’s Jubilee, where he was briefly stranded by a cyclone.

| The Queen celebrated her 86th birthday with a trip to Newbury races.
Afterwards she attended a drinks reception hosted by composer Lord (Andrew) Lloyd-Webber, who lives nearby.
He repaired to the piano to deliver HM his version of Happy Birthday, while Take That’s Gary Barlow sang the lyrics. Sir Gary before long, I am sure, if he keeps his nose clean.
