| Gary Barlow has revealed he HATES the use of the word Overs to describe his category, and instead wants to rename them to Team GB!
We saw Gary pick his finalists in the Over 28s category on the weekend, with Melanie Masson, Carolynne Poole and Kye Sones all making it through to the live shows.
Chatting on Daybreak this morning with his contestants, Gary said he hoped to rename the category.
“These guys have had experience, they’ve been around longer than 16-year-olds,” he explained. “In past years it’s become a joke category and I want to change that.
“They are lovely people as well so it’s going to be a real joy this year.”
The Take That star also revealed he has warned his acts about the “Death Star” that is the X Factor live studio.
“I call it the Death Star, this building. When you get in there, the lights are spinning, it’s like a spaceship,” he said on ITV1 this morning.
He explained: “It isn’t like doing a show in a pub; everyone’s watching, everyone has an opinion. You’ve got to be focused, you’ve got to be ready for it.”
The X Factor 2012 live shows start this weekend on ITV1.

| However, while Faith Hill could be X Factor bound, it seems that Take That may not be performing on the show this year.
The band have a long history with the series and have performed many times on the live shows, however lead singer Barlow confessed that they haven’t been asked to return in 2012 – perhaps because they have no new singles to promote – and said:
“I don’t know, I don’t know, we’ve not been asked.”

| Gary Barlow has insisted that he never acts or behaves in a certain way, just to make good TV footage.
The Take That star joined The X Factor judging panel last year and is about to embark on his second series of live shows, which will run from this weekend until mid December.
He hit the headlines a few times in 2011, because of his straight talking critique of some of the hopefuls, with many claiming he was trying to be the next Simon Cowell, but the dad of three says if he is critical of a singer or group, it is only in the hope that they take his comments on board and improve for their next performance.
Barlow told the Press Association:
“If I’m doing a critique on somebody, I try and make it so it helps them for the following week, if they’re still there. I don’t just critique people for the sake of it just to make TV.”
One other aspect of the show that always generates plenty of attention is the fighting and arguing between the judges.
Gary will sit alongside Tulisa, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger every weekend starting in just a few daus time and he predicted that there will of course be competition and tension between him and his fellow judges.
He full expects to clash with his pals at some points and added:
“It’s going to end up in disagreements, it always is. I have a relationship (with my acts). When someone insults them it’s like someone saying ‘Your kid smells’ – you take it very personally.”
He added: “The judges’ fights are some of the great bits. I think if we just sat there all night going ‘That was brilliant’ to every act it would be boring.”
Gary admitted yesterday that he had a ‘nightmare’ first year on the ITV show and although he loved the experience on one hand, he did struggle to deal with the criticism and the constant attention on him. On returning for a second series, he said he hopes he can be a more ‘experienced judge’ this time round, explaining:
“It was hard last year as it was my first year and everything was brand new. A lot of things surprised me.
“But the thought of walking away from it without having another go at doing it as a more experienced judge and working with the artists brought me back.”

At a loss to explain the ratings’ dive, the singer said it remained a mystery to him but he won’t carry the burden.
‘I don’t know enough… if we were talking about records I could tell you the demographic or whatever. I don’t know about audience figures. To be honest it’s not my problem. They are not going to get more audience figures because my critique is better. They are not tuning in to see me,’ he said.
Lumping the blame on the acts, he said: ‘They are tuning in to see people become stars.’
In a surprise attack he panned last year’s stars, which included winners Little Mix and his runner up Marcus Collins but said he hoped his Overs category will change the tide on the live shows.
‘My complaint at the end of last year is I thought the contestants weren’t good enough,’ he said. ‘I thought we had a pretty average year last year and this year coming back I am really stoked.’
At one point during this series, viewing figures were down 2.6million on last year.

| X FACTOR judge Gary Barlow is plotting revenge on Simon Cowell for slating him in his infamous biography – by writing his own tell-all book.
Gary was blasted by Simon in Tom Bower’s unofficial book Sweet Revenge, in which the music mogul said he was “too scripted” and should be sacked.
And in the new paperback edition more catty remarks were reported, including Simon’s irritation over Gary’s OBE.
Last night Gary dismissed Simon’s ranting as “tittle tattle” and vowed to get his own back.
He said: “Wait until my book comes out! It will be bloody beautiful. I’ll get the lot of them.”
The Take That star added: “I've had plenty of abuse in the past 22 years. I’m so used to having people saying things about me — then when I actually meet them it turns out they’ve never said the things. I take it all with a pinch of salt.
“Gossip and tittle tattle, I’ve got no time for that.”
He added that Simon had not said anything negative to his face, despite reviewing the show every week.
He said: “We get messages every couple of weeks. He gets the show sent to him. He approves it.
“I don’t get advice. We get feedback on the shows just saying, ‘We love the pace of the show’ or whatever.
“He’s the executive producer on the show so he makes changes to the edits but yes, we’ve had good feedback.”
Gary said he thought this year’s show was “good” despite it losing millions of viewers. He said: “I don’t know about audience figures. To be honest, it’s not my problem. They are not going to get more audience figures because my critique is better. It’s just not my problem.”
But he said he was confident this year’s selection of wannabes far outshines last year’s crop, which even Simon blasted as below par.

“I don’t know what’s going on with the figures but if they are going back up it’s because people are seeing talent on there.”
Gary also hit out at the use of the term “overs” to describe his category of singers aged 28 and above. He said: “We hate this name, the overs. It sounds like it’s over already. It sounds like the name of my next band!
“It has been a joke category over the last few years and I even christened it the “over and outs” last year.
“They always save this category for the characters and the people who aren’t that good but people vote them back in.
“I am pleased to have them this year because there is proper talent.
“That is the goal — to change the way people perceive this role.”
He added that Cheryl Cole has enjoyed her return to the show as his sidekick at the judges’ houses stage but refused to confirm the former judge had missed appearing on the reality juggernaut.

| THE showbiz world is, as the great thinker Tulisa recently revealed, a very fake place.
Everyone pretends to be what they’re not, and that they simply adore their co-stars/bandmates.
In reality, everyone’s gay, or horrible, or miserable, or just boring, and “We’re all one big happy family” is famous person code for “We can’t be left in a room together without physically attacking each other”.
And usually, everyone gets away with all of it.
Which is why it’s quite a thrill when a celebrity feud comes to light and no-one denies it, ie it’s confirmed… and that’s exactly where we find ourselves this week.
In the red corner, The All-New, Improved, Fit Gary Barlow. In the blue, The Mighty Cowell.
Obviously only a fool would attempt to pick a side – this is the unreligious equivalent of Jesus V God – so, with no bias, I merely report for the record that Simon Cowell started it.
In his book, Sweet Revenge, he called Gary’s X Factor performance “too scripted” and said he didn’t want him on the panel again.
He added some extra catty remarks about Gary’s OBE just in time for the paperback.
(That’s how celebrity arguments differ from real people arguments – they often include someone dissing someone else’s award from the Queen.)
But then Gary returned to The X Factor anyway, looking hot (obv), confident, and pretty pleased that he’d won that round.
He might not have been quite so chuffed if he’d known that the next attack was just around the corner.

During an awkward on-screen phone call – where he smiled through such extreme gritted teeth his veneers were in danger of shattering – Simon really hit Gary where it hurt. Right in the ego.
There was a definite glint in his eye as he ripped away any chance Gary had of winning this year by saddling him with The Over-28s, and bear in mind he was wearing dark glasses.
Simon couldn’t have made his feelings any clearer if he had sent Gary a box of poo, Old School Sharon Osbourne style.
The deal has always been that silly old pointless Louis gets the silly old pointless category, and together they provide ridiculous light relief in between all the real singers and drama.
For Gary to be lumbered in this way, Simon’s saying that he’s even less important than Louis Walsh, which is surely the cruellest blow any man has ever been dealt in the history of war.
It also makes it crystal clear that Simon isn’t going to hide the fact he doesn’t like Gary from anyone.
This week Gary finally retaliated, saying that he will get his own back on Simon when his autobiography comes out… in other words we have to pay for the next instalment now we’re hooked.
But lots of people will buy the book to find out if Gary goes through with his threat, so I suppose in a way he wins (so far), because he’s going to profit from the fight.
He should probably go the whole hog – call it Fifty Shades Of Gary and rack up millions of bonus accidental sales from clumsy typers too.
