| X Factor runner up Marcus Collins has seemingly confirmed that Gary Barlow will be back on the show this year, describing the Take That star as a “fountain of all knowledge”.
Marcus has been working with Gary, who mentored him on the show last year, on his debut self-titled album, out on Monday.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Marcus said: “The first day in the studio was a bit intimidating.
“There were plaques all around the room from such artists as Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Cher… which made me wonder: ‘Am I out of my depth?”
He continued: “The studio was also where Take That recorded their first album – I was two when they had their first hit.
“Gary is the fountain of all knowledge when it comes to stories of the music industry. We’re always having a laugh.
“He winds me up by getting me to sing when the mic is off so I get him back by pretending to pour cups of tea on him.”
Marcus, who releases his debut single Seven Nation Army this week, added: “Gary is a great role model, family man and amazing musician – and I think he’ll do X Factor again.”

| The Take That frontman confirmed that he was in talks to return to the show last month and Simon Cowell recently said that he believes all four judges will be back for X Factor 2012, but this could be derailed by Barlow's role in the Diamond Jubilee.
He is currently writing a song with Andrew Lloyd Webber for the anniversary of the Queen's coronation, as well as touring the Commonwealth for a documentary and organising a concert outside the gates of Buckingham Palace that will take place on June 4.
Cowell is thought to be attempting to fit The X Factor around Gary's commitments, but they may clash with the show's nationwide auditions.
An insider told The People: 'Gary wants to go back and Simon wants him but he has got a lot on this summer, namely the Jubilee concert which is taking up a lot of his time.
'This and other projects he is working on mean that unless the audition schedule changes, Gary won't be an X Factor judge for this year's show, which will be a huge blow for Simon.
'He loved the X Factor line-up last year and he hopes that he will be able to keep it the same. It is going to take a lot of juggling around though.'
X Factor is to get its first proper rival on March 24, when the BBC's singing contest The Voice arrives.

| X Factor boss Simon Cowell and Gary Barlow have reportedly clashed over the new series of the UK show, with Simon wanting rid of him!
The Star reports this week that Simon, who owns the X Factor format with his production company Syco, and broadcasters ITV disagreed over Gary’s return to the panel.
It was claimed last week that Gary would be back after signing a new, £2 million deal.
“ITV think Gary is good for the show and gives it kudos,” an insider said.
However it seems as though Simon didn’t agree with the decision, and Gary’s rather angry after finding out!
“[Simon] likes him as a person but felt some of his decisions last year were wrong,” a source explains. “Simon told the ITV producers he wanted to replace Gary with either with himself as head judge or bring a new man to the panel.
“When Gary heard there was talk of him being ousted, he was furious.”
We’re not surprised!
The insider goes on to add: “There have been some very cross exchanges with Simon”.
Fortunately it seems as though Gary is pleased to have ITV’s backing and will be back, although he’s still not happy with Simon for the time being.
“He felt like he did well on the show,” the source continued. “He didn’t’ get involved in ay backbiting sand brought credibility to the panel.
“After all his act, Marcus Collins came second.”
Indeed!
The X Factor 2012 returns to ITV1 in the summer.
Auditions continue this Monday in Cardiff.

| The dates of The X Factor 2012 live auditions, with the show’s judging panel, have been revealed.
Following the end of the open auditions at London’s O2 Arena, the countdown begins until the new series starts filming in May, with auditions across the UK.
Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Tulisa has all revealed they’ll be back, and it’s expected that Kelly Rowland will also return to complete the line up.
Dermot O’Leary will once again be hosting the show, while Caroline Flack will be taking on the presenting duties of spin-off Xtra Factor on her own for the auditions. Co-host Olly Murs will return only for the live shows, after a US tour with fellow X Factor stars One Direction over the summer.

| GARY Barlow has signed a huge £2million contract to become the first judge to formally confirm their return to the show.
Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh will agree deals this week.
The N’Dubz star, 23, has bagged a £500,000 fee, £200,000 up on last year, after wowing chiefs by guiding Little Mix to the crown.
She feared for her job after her sex tape scandal but Simon Cowell told her he backed her “100 per cent”.
And Louis, 59, beamed about his return: “I’m so happy.”

| When we start a new job, one of the rites of passage with new colleagues is to start following them on Twitter. It shows an interest in them; a general 'let's be mates' kind of policy.
Now interpret this as you will, but Gary Barlow has just started following Dannii Minogue on Twitter.
He didn't follow her when they did the M&S adverts together, or when they had loads of mutual mates - which they obviously do - but he follows her NOW. Just as the rumour that she's about to be named as the new X Factor judge gathers more and more steam.
And it's not like Gary follows just anyone - oh no. He only follows a select 49, which for a popular bloke isn't very many.
Let's have a little look who they include, shall we? Well, as a random selection, they do include singer Hayley Westenra (remember her?), songwriter Lucie Silvas and, er Andi Peters.
Less surprisingly, the list also contains Frankie Cocozza and Craig Colton, who he mentored in X Factor, Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Kimberley Walsh, who he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with.
He's still following Kelly Rowland, but we'll see how long that lasts for, eh?

| Boss Simon Cowell also got in on the act with a jibe, telling Louis he has to prove he really is a top talent manager this year.
The brick-bats came as ITV confirmed Louis would return for his ninth series this year.
He will join already signed-up Gary, while Tulisa Contostavlos is expected to ink her deal within days.
Bosses are still holding talks with Dannii Minogue’s team in the hope of luring her back to replace Kelly Rowland. Speculation about Dannii’s return increased further when Gary began following her on Twitter for the first time, alongside the rest of the show’s team.
Louis was formally announced just hours after Gary had dined with X Factor bosses to hammer out ideas for this year’s show.
Louis — who started on the first series in 2004 — declared: “I’m back. As the only remaining original judge I’m delighted to take my seat once more.”
But within minutes, Gary tweeted: “I hear there’s a lovely lad from Ireland joining me. Congrats Louis! One of these years you’ll be head judge.”
Cowell also teased Louis, who brought us Boyzone and Westlife, saying: “I hope he has an opportunity this year to show what an astute manager he is.”
An insider said: “It was always a sore point for Louis that he wasn’t made head judge when Simon left last year and Gary was given the mantle instead.
“And Simon’s comment means, by implication, that he wasn’t an astute manager in previous years.
“It all adds to the drama of the show, which bosses hope this year will be better than ever.”
The judges’ first auditions kick off in Liverpool on May 23.

| THE X Factor was plunged into crisis last night after a string of big names turned down the chance to be a judge.
Dannii Minogue, 40, rejected a £1million offer to return on Thursday.
And now a host of other celebrities including Katy Perry, Rihanna and Nicole Scherzinger have snubbed Simon Cowell.
Bosses are now frantically trying to book guest judges for the auditions, which start in Liverpool on Wednesday.
Luckily Robbie Williams is all but certain to appear at next weekend’s London auditions as a special guest.
Our X Factor source said: “At this rate the fourth judge may not be signed until much later in the series.
“Dannii turning them down was a massive blow because as far as ITV1 and The X Factor were concerned it was a done deal.
“The back-up plan is to have a host of guest performers take part in the regional auditions and possible boot camp before revealing a permanent name at the judges’ houses in August.
“Everyone involved knows how important the judges are to the success of the show.
“Numerous high-profile singers have come forward wanting the job. But bosses fear they aren’t big enough names to wow viewers. So it’s now panic stations to make sure they can sign up a big enough name in time.”
Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Tulisa Contostavlos have all signed deals to return, along with host Dermot O’Leary.
But with just three days left until the ninth series kicks off producers are desperate to fill the gap left by the departing Kelly Rowland.
Former Spice Girls Geri Halliwell and Mel B are among those being considered.
The Saturdays singers Frankie Sandford and Rochelle Wiseman could also be drafted in as could Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon.

| Though he never looked to me like he was under any pressure at all as he lounged casually in his judge’s chair, Gary Barlow was apparently “too uptight” throughout the last series of X Factor.
However, this year – which is of course only his second – he’s determined to relax more and enjoy his job.
Speaking to Guilty Pleasures, Gary said, “That’s my note to self. I want to enjoy it; I want to relax.”
He added, “I was uptight last year, every week. I felt the pressure, having never done anything like that before.
“[But] I have done a series now. I want to get on there and enjoy it like everyone else does…
“And that’s experience and just being able to go, ‘Right, I’ve done this before’ and laugh because it is bloody good fun!
“Especially the auditions. That’s the most fun bit actually, with all the weirdos. It’s great…”
