| X Factor judge Gary Barlow wants contestants to have their phones confiscated - to stop them using Twitter during the live shows.
He believes the wannabes should be barred from using them during the live shows because they spend too long on them and focus on negative comments from viewers.
Barlow spoke out about the hopefuls' Twitter use during the judges' houses stage of the contest.
It comes after the Take That star was the target of an internet troll, Kenneth Tong, who made a series of sick jokes about the singer's stillborn daughter Poppy.
Barlow said: "Last year's contestants spent too much time on Twitter when they should have been spending the time working on their songs and performances."
Speaking at Boughton House in Northamptonshire, where he is based for this stage of the contest, he said contestants were letting the occasional criticism outweigh the upbeat comments on social networking sites.
"They'd look at 100 comments and 99 would be positive but all they would think about was the one that was negative. It's not good for them," Barlow said.
"If they didn't see Twitter, it would be much better for them. If I have my way, I'll take their phones off them as soon as they go into the contestants' house.
"The X Factor is hard work. They need to put all their energies into their performances, rather than worrying about who has said what about them on Twitter."

| Lovers caught having sex in the bushes at Gary's judge's house
THE X Factor got the Sex Factor — as two young lovers romped in BUSHES at Gary Barlow’s judge’s house.
They were found at it just as Gary and sidekick Cheryl Cole were about to pick their final acts for the live TV shows.
Filming at a stately home in Northamptonshire was halted after producers spied movement in the grounds.
They feared it was paparazzi trying to snap Gary and Cheryl arriving by helicopter. But when security men raced over to the bushes they discovered a randy couple going at it “without a care in the world”.
A source said: “Security expected some bloke with a camera and were stunned when it turned out to be two young lovers in their 20s.
“The pair looked as shocked as our security staff and quickly stopped what they were doing and pulled their clothes back on.”
“They made their excuses and left. It seems they’d been having a picnic and got carried away.”
The Sun revealed last week that Gary had secretly chosen Cheryl as his judges’ houses sidekick behind the back of boss Simon Cowell.
He later gloated over her return — but she slapped him down, saying she was only doing it for her pal Gary.

| GARY BARLOW has blasted stand-in X Factor judge Geri Halliwell as “crackers” and said he’d QUIT if bosses ever hired her again.
The Take That star accused the Spice Girl of “trying too hard” when she stood in at the Liverpool auditions and he said the singer was HATED by the crowd.
Gary said: “She’s crackers. How you see her on TV is exactly how she is in real life. The crowd really didn’t like her. She got booed all day long. She was a bit over-excited.”
He revealed that bosses had told Geri she could get the job full-time if she proved a hit.
He added: “She’d been told she was auditioning for the role and, bless her, I think she tried a bit too hard. I do love her for being her though, we had fun backstage. She’s sweet but mad.”
However when asked if he thought she’d be back another year, Gary added: “I doubt it. And if she is, I may be going.”
He told how he had more time for Geri’s bandmate Mel B, who was a guest judge on the programme.
Gary said: “Mel was brilliant. It actually gave me a bit of a holiday the day she was there.
“I’m normally the one who delivers the bad news but she was doing it all so I could just sit there, going, ‘Oh, that’s awful, what she said’ but secretly loving it.”
He said he was made up that Cheryl Cole had agreed to be his sidekick at the judges’ houses and told how he tapped her up at the Jubilee concert when they performed a duet.
Gary said: “It was brilliant to get her, she is A-list. I said to her, ‘No pressure at all but I’d love you to come and be my guest judge’.
“We’ve always been quite close and when we did the Jubilee together, I thought, ‘I wonder if she would’.
“I knew it would be great for my acts to be watched by someone who has so much experience in this competition. That’s invaluable.”

Tulisa to perform ballad on live shows
TULISA will perform on the live shows, she has revealed.
The N-Dubz star turned solo artist told TV Biz: “I’m doing a song on the show – it will be a ballad.”
It will be the second time she has performed – she teamed up with her winning act Little Mix last year to do a version of Alicia Keys’ Empire State Of Mind at the live finals at Wembley.
Gary and Nicole are also expected to sing but dates are being kept a secret.

| As fans of X Factor will of course know, former judge Cheryl Cole joined current judge Gary Barlow as his assistant during this year’s Judges’ Houses round…
And of her input in helping him choose which acts should go through to the live shows, and in her advise to his artists, Gary described her presence as “invaluable.”
Speaking to the Daily Star, Gary – who held his Judge’s House round at posh Boughton House in Northants – said, “It was brilliant to get her, she is A-list.
“I said to her, ‘No pressure at all but I’d love you to come and be my guest judge’.
“We’ve always been quite close and when we did the Jubilee together, I thought, ‘I wonder if she would’…

Gary went on to say that being a judge and mentor on the X Factor is harder than performing at Wembley or at the Olympics closing ceremony, when he of course sang with Cheryl.

The fact that Cheryl joined Gary at Judges’ Houses came as a surprise to nearly everyone, since it had been expected that his Take That band mate Robbie Williams would, as he did last year, assist Gary.
And according to a recent report in the Daily Mail, not even X Factor boss Simon Cowell knew that Gary had asked Cheryl to help him out.
The paper states, “The plans were so cloak and dagger that Barlow went to the extent of making people believe that Robbie Williams would be he surprise mentor.”
An X Factor source told The Sun, “Only Gary’s intimate inner circle know.
“He hasn’t even discussed it with Simon or ITV bosses. It’s been seriously top secret stuff.
“They’re all under the impression it’s going to be Robbie. No one even noticed the dates for the recording clashed with Robbie’s new solo tour.”
But when asked if Cowell was angry about his secret plotting with Cheryl, Gary said, “He’ll be happy because it will bring viewers to his show.
“He’ll be loving it.”
Gary apparently asked Cheryl to join him at Judges’ House as the pair relaxed over a drink following their duet at Buckingham Palace in June for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Cheryl recently told chat show host Jonathan Ross that although she’s in contact with Simon, they are far from being as close as they once were.
She said, “I do talk to him every now and again. We’re frenemies.”
As to the other judges, Ne-Yo assisted Nicole Scherzinger to make her decision about the Boys while Tinie Tempah helped Tulisa make up her mind which of the Girls would go forward.
And of course, Louis Walsh, who’s mentoring the Groups, was joined by another ex-judge, Sharon Osbourne in Las Vegas.

| Tonight sees the very last of this year’s X Factor auditions and one act who just squeezed onto the series at the last minute was hunky boyband Rough Copy.
The band consists of Joey , 25, electrical engineer, Sterling, 24, teaching assistant and Kas, 22, Carpenter. Speaking backstage to producers, Sterling revealed that he thinks their act will appeal to female viewers, saying:
“I think ladies and young girls are all going to love our music!”
Dermot O’Leary asked:
“Are you ready for all these girls to know your names?”
The hopeful singer replied:
“Well I need to make some more space in my phone book. In 2 years’ time when I have at least 4 numbers 1’s, 1 Brit award, 1 MOBO award. It’s all games and fun, but it’s serious. There is not a group out there like us, it’s time for a change.”
The lads then took to the stage and delivered a pretty darn great rendition of ‘Use Somebody’ by Kings of Leon. The audience seemed to like it, as did the judges.
Judges’ Comments:
Gary: Guys you were born to be on the stage. And I think you are going to be an absolute nightmare to mentor.
Kas: So that would be you yeah?
Gary: I hope not!
Tulisa: Guys, thank you. You have made my day. You come up there and you are entertainers. I thought it was a brilliant audition….I could mentor you.
Rita: So listen, I need to tell you lot something. Don’t ever change, because what you are doing right now, is what everyone loves.

| "The X Factor" U.K. judge Gary Barlow has done a very outspoken interview with The Sun in which he essentially says he likes working with Cheryl Cole and Melanie Brown on the show, but not Geri Halliwell.
As previously reported, Barlow convinced former "X Factor" judge Cole to return to the show as a guest mentor assisting him in evaluating contestants in the "judges' houses" phase of the competition. They filmed the episodes in London on September 8, 2012. This year, Barlow (a founding member of Take That) is mentoring the "Overs" category (solo singers ages 28 and over).

Cole was a judge on "The X Factor" U.K. from 2008 to 2010. She quit the show to join Simon Cowell as a judge on "The X Factor" U.S., but she was fired from the U.S. show after doing just four audition dates. After being notoriously dumped from the show, she told the media that she would never return to "The X Factor." However, she changed her mind for Barlow, one of her longtime friends.
In May 2012, former Spice Girls members Brown (also known as Mel  and Halliwell were guest judges at "X Factor" U.K. auditions. They were filling in until a permanent replacement was named for Kelly Rowland, who exited the show in April 2012, after being unable to reach an agreement about her salary and time commitment. (Nicole Scherzinger ended up replacing Rowland in June 2012.)
When Halliwell was on the show, she clashed with Barlow, as they often disagreed on contestants. They also got into an argument over which group was more important: the Spice Girls or Take That.

| X Factor producers scour London as talented homeless singer goes missing
While most X Factor contestants strive for a coveted spot at Judges Houses, one talented performer is about to lose his opportunity after going missing.
Homeless acoustic singer, Robbie Hance, who blows judges away on tonight’s (Sunday) show has gone AWOL and producers are desperately trying to hunt him down.
According to The Sunday Mirror, the 26-year-old, who has been sleeping rough on the streets on central London for the last six years, has suddenly become incommunicado, sparking concerns over his whereabouts.

‘He’s a fantastic artist and blew everyone away at auditions,’ a show insider told the paper.
‘He doesn’t have a phone and the only point of contact was through a friend. Producers last spoke to him on Monday but they can no longer reach his friend and have no idea where he is. It’s a real worry.’
‘If he doesn’t get in touch by the end of next week, then he’d have to kiss goodbye to any part in the show, which would be a tragedy.’

Sporting a beard and wearing a beany hat pulled down over his long hair, Robbie certainly didn’t fit into the typical popstar mould, but by the end of his rendition of Damien Rice’s Coconut Skins, the judges were on their feet.
After his emotional performance, the scruffy singer had the judges eating out of the palm of his hand, although they seemed worried about his state of mind.
Tulisa said: ‘You look like someone that has been lost for a while and I think you need to realise the potential you have and how good you are.'

Gary Barlow was also blown away by the performance, but seemed concerned about Robbie.
He said: ‘You have got lots of talent and absolutely zero confidence and that is the only thing to work on in my opinion.'
Robbie has had a tough start in life, after being taken into care as a young teenager and consequently being unable to find work, he has been forced to sleep on the streets.

| Last night The X Factor scored its highest audience so far this series, with a peak audience of 11.2 million viewers at 20.45.
The 60 minute show which aired between 20.00 – 21.00 drew an average audience of 9.7 million viewers – the highest audience so far this series, and up nearly two million viewers on the previous Sunday.
Downton Abbey returned for a third series last night, drawing a peak audience of 9.6 million viewers.
The audience to the 90 minute opener was 9 million viewers; the highest rating drama on ITV1 so this year.
Downton Abbey won its slot, drawing double the audience of the next nearest channel between 21.00-22.30.
With an average audience of 8.1 million viewers between 19.00-22.30 – ITV1 was the highest rating channel in peak by more than three million viewers.

THE OVERS
The Over’s is the most difficult category to mentor which the judges have led us to believe in recent years, or maybe it is just because the right people have been overlooked, in exchange for tabloid grabbing wannabes. The only winner in the over’s category came way back in 2004 when Steve Brookstein won, remember him ? However this year the over’s category has been gaining more headlines, and the talent is expected to be better this year, well it couldn’t have really got any worse. The best year in terms off over’s was probably in 2009 where Simon got Olly Murs to the final. Is it now time for an Over 28 to win the X Factor? Only time will tell.
Kye Sones:- I think Kye is a brilliant addition to the Over 28 category he is very different from what we usually see in the category. He is incredibly current, and he picked a fantastic mash up for his first audition. I think this is the reason why I can personally see Kye progressing quite far in the competition. With mixing a Swedish house mafia song, with a Rita Ora song he has opened the doors for a younger audience. That has been the problem with the Over’s category, finding acts which both the younger and older voters can vote in. He has a wonderful voice, he ha s a real depth to his voice, and is really listenable. He is fresh, with the correct direction, and mentoring I believe he could be in the show for quite some time.
Melanie Masson:- What a singer! I remember when this audition came on I was completely blown away with her voice. She is incredibly! I think she is probably the best singer the Over’s category has had probably since Ruth Lorenzo in 2008. The sheer Power and emotion she showcased in that performance was breath-taking. She is a real performer and you can see the previous experience she has had performing, it really showed in how she was able to control the audience. We have never really had a female singer like her before on X Factor, that real old school, rocker. I think seeing Melanie on stage would be like watching a real show, she could really control the stage with her voice. I look forward to see what else she can bring to the competition.
Christopher Maloney:- I haven’t heard a guy like Christopher sing like that on X Factor before, he sang with so much passion, like he was looking for acceptance. He would most defiantly appeal to the older audience on X Factor, I think his vocal range is brilliant and if the show was judged entirely on singing I believe Christopher could go far. It’s all about finding those songs which he can relate to lyrically. There are just two things that worry me about Christopher, that is how he will appeal to the voting demographic, can he get both the young and old to vote for him. And the other thing is, will he be able to show versatility in his performance and singing style. If he can combat these two areas, I can see Christopher going far in the competition.
Tammy Cartwright:- Tammy’s grandpa was very quickly taking centre stage but then Tammy decided to quickly take her performance up a notch. Tammy is one of those big voiced diva’s which many love. And I actually love she decided to mix Jennifer Hudson and Beyonce’s version of One Night Only together. This allowed her to both show her incredible vocal range but also her performance quality. She has massive vocals, and could easily out sing many contestants, she is brilliant and I hope she begins to really feel like she has a shot at winning the show because with the right songs I think she could be brilliant. It’s all about making her sound like a recording artist and moving her away from more of the pleasurable karaoke tracks.
Hayley Evetts:- Hayley is one of my wildcard picks to progress far in the competition. Many may say why have her as a wildcard, her voice is amazing. Yes It is great however she was on Xtra Factor so the priority for Hayley might not be massive. However what this performance showed to me was that she still has a massive range, and that she can tackle the biggest songs. Her voice at times though in that performance became slightly harsh and pitchy when going for her upper register however she has that likeability and the sense of being an underdog and fighting back to the top. If Hayley has that self-belief to fight one and gives a great bootcamp performance she could potentially take a place of one of the other’s in her category.
Rick Moorhouse:- This would be my other wildcard pick for the Over 28’s category, as we know with X Factor people at bootcamp and judges houses can just pop out from nowhere and I believe Ricj could be that person. He has a strong voice, and I know the 40 second clip didn’t show lots of his performance, but I believe it showed enough to show that he has a nice pop rock voice, and has a lot of stage presence, he has the type of voice which could be adaptable to the many genres and themes which X Factor acts are required to go through which leads me to believe we will see more of Rick.
Carolynne Poole:- AMAZING! That is the one word I think of while writing this. Carolynne’s voice is stunning, she such great pitch, and her range is brilliant. It was an angelic performance, and she totally related to the song and its lyrics. She just made the Over’s category even more exciting, and as I have always said the over’s need to appeal to both the older and younger audience, and I fully believe that an act like Carolynne can do that. She seems like totally a different person from last year and as the judges said she seems to have the confidence that she can win the competition. I fully believe that Carolynne can get to the Live shows this year, it all depends can she consistently give performances like her audition. Only time will tell but at the moment she is a major front runner.
Okay so these are the overs which I believe will stand a chance of being successful throughout bootcamp and possibly further i.e. Judges houses and the Live Shows. That leaves me to do one last thing, tell you my top 4 picks for who to look out for during bootcamp. These are the acts which I think could make headlines and give noteworthy performances, but only time will tell. My picks are:-
Carolynne Poole
Melanie Masson
Kye Sones
Christopher Maloney
