| A FURIOUS Gary Barlow unleashed an astonishing attack on The X Factor, claiming he hates the show.
And in an explosive interview with the Daily Star Sunday the Take That star told how:
• He almost quit after last week’s fix scandal.
• The show’s reputation had been severely damaged.
• He has barely uttered a word to fellow judge Louis Walsh since.
• And he is unsure if he will return next year.
Last week’s show was plunged into a fix row when Louis, 60, decided to save novelty act Rylan Clark over talented country singer Carolynne Poole.
It was claimed senior producer Richard Holloway had told Louis who to send home when cameras caught him whispering in the judge’s ear.
Gary blasted: “Straight away after what happened last week I thought I don’t want to do this any more.
“I just thought ‘this isn’t the way I imagined it to be. After what I’ve just seen, the singer who did the worst has stayed’.
“I was even more upset than I appeared on the show. I was trying to hide it because I knew the cameras were on me.
“I couldn’t stand the thought of them taking shots of my face while Carolynne was going through that. I couldn’t bear it, so I walked off. I was angry with Louis and I blame him for what happened because he made her wait and wait and wait.
“He told her she was staying and then that she was going.
“Deadlock is a horrible thing for contestants anyway, so to string it out was just awful.”
Richard has since claimed he was only telling Louis the running order of voting.
But Gary, 41, said: “The only two things I care about are the contestants and the fans of the show and last weekend didn’t do us any favours.
“People need to know that when you vote and spend your money it matters and it counts.
“And I hate the idea of it being fixed. The fact Rylan was in the bottom two shows things are changing and people want to see talent.
“But the whole thing about someone coming up on to the judges’ chairs, that can’t happen again.
“There should be no one up on that stage with us, it shouldn’t happen.
“I’ve told them that. I do not want it to happen again.
“We’ve never had that before. I didn’t see it last year.”
He went on: “I think in the short-term the reputation of the show has definitely been damaged.
“I know what I’m told by the public, by cabbies and stuff like that and people weren’t happy last weekend. They thought their vote hadn’t counted but it does count.
“I haven’t cleared the air with Louis but yes, he has gone down in my estimation.”
Denying he is told what to do by show boss Simon Cowell, 53, or the producers, he said: “If Simon tried to tell me who to vote for I would say ‘No’. Nobody tells me what to do.”
Gary hinted he would not return to the judging panel for a third time next year, saying it was too early to decide.
He added: “This show gets to me because it follows me round all week. And we are in it from now until Christmas.
“I hate it but I love it.”

| X FACTOR judge Gary Barlow last night spoke for the first time on TV about the loss of his stillborn baby daughter.
After the performance by Lucy Spraggan — whose gran has just died — the Take That star said: “I know how physically and emotionally draining loss can be. Sometimes the only answer is to get back out on stage.”
Gary performed at the Olympics closing ceremony just eight days after he and his wife Dawn were devastated by the loss of Poppy.
Earlier last night, he and Louis Walsh made up in the “fix” row.
The judges hadn’t spoken since Walsh bottled out of a decision on last week’s results show, allowing Barlow’s act Carolynne Poole to be booted out at the expense of Rylan Clark.
At the start of last night’s ITV1 show, Gary announced he had forgiven Louis, 60, and insisted they shake hands.
Asked by host Dermot O’Leary if it was over, Barlow, 41 said: “Absolutely, listen it’s a new day, Louis, shake hands.”
Walsh told him: “I couldn’t make up my mind up. I was scared.”
Gary had told The Sun that the affair had damaged the show’s reputation and said nothing like it must happen again.

| After the previous week’s deadlock drama, during Saturday night’s X FactorGary Barlow said that he wanted to put his differences with co-judge Louis Walsh aside. Gary even shook hands with Louis to show there were no hard feelings...
However, during the weekend the tension between Louis and Gary was obvious for everyone to see. Which isn’t surprising as Louis had told heat that he’ll never be friendly with that Take That star,
“Gary and I will never be proper friends,” Louis says. “Gary has no sense of humour. This show isn’t about singing, it’s about entertainment,” he adds, referring to the fact that Gary was furious after his act Carolynne Poole was voted off the show and Rylan Clark was saved.

And it sounds like the rivalry between Gary and Louis will only deepen as the competition continues, with Louis telling heat Radio that he’ll do what ever it takes to guide his acts to victory,
“We’re in a competition and I’ll do whatever I have to do to get votes for my acts. I don’t care who I have to step on, or trample on,” he admitted.
Wow! Now that is fighting talk! “He thinks he’s head judge, but we’re all equal,” concluded Louis.

AFTER another dramatic week on X Factor, a teen working on the show has shared his opinions on the controversy.

James Farrow, 19, is a runner for Talkback Thames, who produce the show, and is also about to start work on Britain’s Got Talent.
For the second week in a row the judges failed to reach a decision over which contestant to vote off, triggering another deadlock.
But Mr Farrow, from Dalton, believes the judge’s antics are not to everyone’s taste
He said: “I think a lot of people are getting a bit more angry with what happened last weekend and all the arguments.
“I do think it’s getting a bit more gimmicky. I can’t remember there being so many gimmicks in the first five seasons.”
A week last Sunday, judge Gary Barlow reacted furiously after Louis Walsh voted to save Rylan Clark, widely considered a novelty act, at the expense of country singer Carolynne Poole. In the resulting deadlock Clark was saved.
On Sunday it was another member of Barlow’s over 28s category facing the axe after the panel’s votes were split between boy band District 3, and Scottish songstress, Melanie Masson.
Masson had to bid farewell to the show after host Dermot O’Leary announced she had picked up the fewest audience votes: “X Factor has always had this controversial thing around it, but I don’t think it will harm the ratings in the short term. Whether it harms them it the long term I don’t know,” said Mr Farrow.
“I don’t think the judges put on all the arguments. They don’t seem to enjoy it as much anymore. In the first series Louis, Simon and Sharon seemed to enjoy themselves, but recently Kerry went and Gary was talking about going, I don’t know whether that will harm ratings.
“The main thing is that it’s still about talent I think”
Mr Farrow is hoping to pursue a career in television, and is hoping his time working behind the scenes on two of the nation’s biggest programmes will stand him in good stead.

| THE Take That singer has booked gigs for November and December, limiting the time he has to mentor his remaining acts.
X FACTOR judge Gary Barlow has infuriated Simon Cowell by going on a solo tour during the final stages of The X Factor.
The Take That star will be away on the road for November and December, only returning at weekends for the show and final rehearsals with his remaining acts.
He has gigs booked in Manchester on the Thursday and Friday before the final weekend on December 8.
Sources close to Cowell say it sends out a “clear signal” that he feels his acts won’t make it to the final.
They claim that if Gary’s performers do get near the winning stages, he won’t have as much time to mentor them, compared to other contestants.
One friend of Cowell, 53, says he is furious as Gary is supposed to be committed to The X Factor’s ratings battle with Strictly.
The close pal said: “Simon is shocked and more than a little angry. Gary and Simon haven’t seen eye-to-eye for some time and this won’t help things one bit.
“Announcing a tour during the final stages of The X Factor shows that Gary only wants to be a part-time judge. It’s not on.”
Gary, 41, has told of his shock at losing two of his acts already. They include Scot Melanie Masson, who was booted off on Sunday. Gary posted a message online saying: “What’s happening out there?”
A spokesman for X Factor insisted production can work around Gary’s tour while the star claims he will have enough time to spend with his acts. A spokesman for Cowell declined to comment.

| Gary Barlow decided to sit between Nicole and Tulisa on the X Factor 2012 panel, it’s been revealed.
This year’s live shows saw Gary move between the girls, amid rumours that the two girls weren’t getting on.
And whether it’s due to Gary being in the way or the rumours are true, from what we’ve seen Nicole and Tulisa really don’t seem to be best friends on the panel.
A spokesperson for the show told heat magazine: “It was Gary’s decision to change seats. He enjoys the banter between Nicole and Tulisa.”
But a source claimed that the move was actually a “production decision” due to the lightning requirements both the girls have!
Another supposed X Factor insider added to heat magazine: “Producers welcome the drama on the panel and are always looking at ways to switch things up. Moving Gary off the head judge’s seat was definitely part of that.”
A show insider recently told the Mail on Sunday that Tulisa ‘can’t stand’ Nicole and that the pair are ‘already rubbing each other up the wrong way’.
A supposed source added: “Tulisa thinks Nicole hogs the limelight, singing and getting to her feet during auditions. It really aggravates Tulisa. And Nicole fawns over Gary Barlow, getting really touchy feely with him at every opportunity.”
Nicole previously denied any such arguments, but did confess they did have an ‘awkward’ start.
“I think it took her a second to warm to me, because we didn’t know each other,” Nicole told The Sun. “When we got to sit down and share some wine together [we began to] talk and see each other as humans. [We told] each other about our backgrounds and stories and own lives [and then] we really related to one another.
“We’re both fighters and survivors. We’re tough cookies underneath it all. We just show it in different ways.”
One audience member in the studio during the earlier live shows told us previously: “The girls rarely spoke all night, it was clear that it was Team Nicole and Gary against Team Tulisa and Louis.”
The X Factor 2012 live shows start at 8:20PM tonight on ITV1.
The third elimination will take place on Sunday night’s live show, which will also feature performances from JLS and Labrinth.

Riled X Factor judges Tulisa and Gary Barlow have barred their acts from mixing with Rylan Clark – saying his antics will shatter their credibility.
Tulisa read the riot act to singer Lucy Spraggan after she joined oddball Rylan, 23, for a night out this week and returned drunk.
The judge, 24, accused her of “not taking it seriously and throwing away her opportunity”.
An X Factor insider said: “Tulisa was disappointed with Lucy – she had her down as a serious musician and a real competitor for this year’s title but now she thinks she’s just here for a laugh.
“They really embarrassed themselves. Photos of them rolling around drunk in the street appeared and it really brings the show into disrepute.”
Rival Gary, 41, has given his remaining hopefuls a similar warning about Rylan, saying: “He shouldn’t be here, you’ll ruin your chances if you’re not careful.”

The source claims he told Kye Sones, 30, and Christopher Maloney to distance themselves from tuneless Rylan and his antics, blaming him for bringing a “bad attitude” into the X Factor camp.
“Gary has made his feelings about Rylan quite clear,” the source added.
“But he’s had another word with his own acts and warned them that there is no place for his messing around on the show.” Lucy and Rylan’s wild night out in London saw them booted out of the posh Corinthia Hotel where all of the wannabes are staying.
The duo have now been moved to another hotel near the North London studios where the ITV show is filmed.
Lucy, 20, later tweeted her apologies: “Me and Rylan Clark are partaking in a small vacation from the hotel for a few days.
"Our most sincere apologies for our behaviour.”
Meanwhile, fellow finalist Jade Ellis, 25, faces an 11th-hour battle to regain her voice ahead of tonight’s live show, after doctors barred her from speaking.
She tweeted: “It’s killing me not to talk. I’ve been on voice rest for 48hrs.”

| X Factor 2012 judge Louis Walsh has insisted that he’s good pals with Gary Barlow, following their argument during the first live results show.
It was claimed that Gary had been refusing to talk to Louis after the Irish music mogul decided to ditch Carolynne Poole in favour of Rylan Clark.
But quizzed on the relationship between them, Louis said this week: “We’re good friends.
“Most of our arguments are about the songs. He knows the business inside out and is perfectly equipped to Judge on the show.”
However keen to get a dig in, Louis added: “Except dancing! Gary’s a bad dancer so that’s one area he shouldn’t be allowed to comment on.”
But while Louis was (sort of) complimentary about Gary, it seems that the Take That star’s acts weren’t so lucky.
Louis complained about Chris: “He is what he is. He cannot be what he’s not. He’s a great cabaret singer. Christopher is an old fashioned entertainer.”
Instead, Louis said it was all about the groups this year.
He told the official ITV1 X Factor website: “My two highlights have been seeing District3 and Union J make the transition from boys to men.
“They’ve become proper boybands. They could be major players in the industry. The girls LOVE them!”
Meanwhile, on his fellow judges, Louis let slip that Tulisa was becoming a bit of a diva backstage!
He said: “Nicole and Tulisa have about six people each tending to their beauty and styling needs. I think Tulisa is probably turning into J-Lo.”
The X Factor 2012 continues this Saturday night with a spooky Halloween themed episode as the remaining ten contestants perform live once again.
The latest results show follows on Sunday when one more act will be given the boot.

| A few Saturdays ago, Christopher Maloney stepped onto the floor of the X Factor studio and performed a version of Alone, a Magic FM power-ballad staple that was written 29 years ago. The performance, by all estimates, was horrible; the sort of schmalzy, overwrought mess that you'd hear on a cruise ship. And yet Maloney received more telephone votes than any other X Factor act that week. In a nutshell, this represents everything that's wrong with The X Factor in 2012.
Make no mistake, the show is in a muddle. Ratings are down for the second year running and Strictly Come Dancing is beating it week after week. Worse still, The X Factor isn't fighting back. The whole thing looks flaccid and tired and ready to throw in the towel.
It's all a far cry from two years ago. That's when Simon Cowell, in his final year as an X Factor judge, decided to ignore singers who were merely competent and instead pick finalists who were current and risky. His gamble paid off. That year's series threw up acts like One Direction, Cher Lloyd and Wagner – acts that are now international success stories (or Wagner) – and culminated in a final that netted almost 20 million viewers.
Fast forward to today and the difference couldn't be more drastic. Conservative adequacy has become the order of the day, with most of the contestants coming off as little more than subdued karaoke singers. That might not be their fault, of course. Whenever an act has even flirted with the theatrical, by performing to an audience of little Karl Lagerfelds or even moving their hands while they sing, Gary Barlow has shown a tendency to scowl or storm off or hold his breath like a stroppy toddler. He's been called a fun-sponge before, and for good reason. Gary Barlow is making The X Factor boring.
It doesn't help that, while The X Factor sinks, BBC One is getting it right time and time again. For all its unabashed cheesiness, Strictly Come Dancing is a perfect example of family entertainment. There's less cynicism there, at least compared to The X Factor and its endless barrage of phone-in competitions, product placement and plugs for useless apps. Strictly is much more glamorous than X Factor, too. As is Merlin, which seems to have developed into a show that's primarily about topless oiled-up hunks and women heaving their bosoms atthe camera for all they're worth. If The X Factor can't even be as sexy as a show about a clumsy boy wizard, we're all doomed.
But at some point everything becomes old. And if you're a 14-year-old viewer, The X Factor has been on TV since you were five. It's what your parents watch. It's old hat. That's why someone as Pebble Millish as Christopher Maloney can keep winning the phone vote. It's why the competition prize last week was a Volvo. You're never going to find the next pop sensation when you're pitching the show at middle-aged Maloney-loving Volvo drivers. Lose the kids and you completely lose the point of The X Factor.
It's probably too late to change anything this year. The X Factor can try to sex up its current batch of dullards all it likes, but really it will just be rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic. If The X Factor wants to be great again, it needs to write this year off completely and start thinking about 2013. It needs to start thinking about the sort of pop star it wants to create. It needs to remember how to have fun. If that means getting rid of Gary Barlow – or anyone involved with the current incarnation, for that matter – then so be it. It's a risk that must be taken.

Though, we’re not just here to list the reasons why he’s our favourite man candy. Oh nooo! This morning, we caught up with the most lust-after man in music to talk about his spats with Rylan, friendship with Robbie and why he’d love for there to be a Take That themed week. What a good idea, Gaz!
‘Fess up! How do you feel about Robbie defecting to Team Rylan?
I still can’t believe it. After all this time! All those years spent rekindling our friendship and making all those songs together. That’s it, back to default! I don’t think he likes Rylan. He likes annoying me. Robbie’s really enjoying this!
Did you enjoy Robbie’s hilarious performance last night on the Results Show?
It was great having Robbie perform on the Results Show. The X Factor is modelled on someone like Robbie. He is somebody that the Finalists can really learn from. He’s the prototype and has the ‘X’ factor in spades.
Have you stayed in touch with Melanie and Carolynne?
I’ve stayed in touch with Melanie and Carolynne. They both invited me to their gigs at GAY. It has been years since I’ve visited anywhere like that! I’m pleased to see that they’ve both been gigging lots since appearing on the show.
If you hadn't been given the Overs, which other category would you like to have mentored?
It would have to be the Boys. They really stand out this year. My favourite is probably Jahmene. He’s phenomenally talented.
Who irritates you most out of Johnny Robinson and Rylan?
Ah, it would have to be the lovely Johnny Robinson. I think Rylan is more of a popstar than Johnny was. Although, Johnny played along with it – he got the joke. Whereas Rylan doesn’t!
Would you like there to a Take That themed week?
I would love for there to be a Take That themed week. I’d be interested to see what James Arthur would do with one of my songs.
