TAKE THAT star GARY BARLOW faces an anxious Christmas (08) - because he fears his New Year baby will come early.

The singer's first two kids arrived early and he's half expecting a Christmas baby - if his wife goes into labour a month ahead of schedule.

He says, "We're on emergency over Christmas. The baby's due on 17 January but both our kids have been very early.

"I've got to keep the drinks down (just in case)."

The reason? Consuming all those Crimbo dinner calories.
And Gazza says the guilt is so bad, he'll be hitting the gym before the big meal itself:
"I won't be able to have my Christmas dinner without a guilt trip," he revealed.
"So I've got it all planned out.
"I'm going for a two-hour workout on Christmas morning to earn my dinner and that way I won't feel guilty about getting stuck into it."

SINGER Alesha Dixon will be hoping to scale the heights in 2009 after narrowly failing to top the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas tree.

For Alesha will be swapping her dancing shoes for hiking boots in the New Year.

The stunning pop star is set to climb Mount Kilimanjaro - the highest peak in Africa - in February.

She will be taking part in the trek in aid of Comic Relief along with a number of other celebrities, including Take That singer Gary Barlow, Girls Aloud duo Kimberley Walsh and Cheryl Cole and Radio 1 breakfast show host Chris Moyles.

The singer from WGC climbed to the summit of the judges' leaderboard in the Strictly Christmas Special after performing a graceful Viennese Waltz with partner Matthew Cutler.

Head judge Len Goodman was glowing in praise for the couple after their routine to White Christmas by Otis Redding.

He said: "What a Christmas present! Alesha's back in the ballroom and it is business as usual.

"You go together like turkey and stuffing, bubble and squeak, mince piece and brandy butter. Fantastic."

Bruno Tonioli added: "Alesha you are like a vision. It was like watching crystals of snow under a beam of sunshine, resplendent. And the waltz wasn't bad either!"

After a slight criticism from Craig Revel Horwood, fellow judge Arlene Phillips told Alesha: "From the Wicked Witch here to Snow White, you put on a frothy dress, some high heels and you dance like a dream."

Alesha was awarded three tens from the judges and Len Goodman placed her top of the four couples that tied on 39 points.

However, the 2007 Strictly champion was beaten to the festive crown on Christmas Day by ex-EastEnders actress Jill Halfpenny after the votes of the studio audience had been added.

The former Mis-Teeq singer will now be hoping to reach the peak in a very different pursuit out in Africa.

I will be the first to admit that I am a bit of an Anglophile. I've been fascinated with British culture . . . both of the historic and pop nature . . . for as long as I can remember. So deep was my fascination, that I was even compelled to move to London for a short while during my early 20's to completely immerse myself in all things English. While I was living there, the pop group/boy band Take That (which had enjoyed only mild success in the U.S.) broke up and created a news frenzy that I found a bit hysterical at the time. It was such a big deal there, that TV shows had psychiatrists on the air offering advice to parents on how best to deal with their distraught teens. Crazy stuff. Anyway, I wanted to know what the big deal was, so I found myself at Virgin Record purchasing the group's greatest hits album . . . which I have to admit I found quite enjoyable. As far as band members go, Robbie Williams made the most headlines and seemed to be the most popular, but my favorite was always Gary Barlow, who enjoyed some success as a solo artist follow the group's disbanding. I was recently browsing some of my favorite websites, and stumbled across some modern pics of Gary, who is still as handsome as ever. With the anniversary of my extended British sabbatical just around the corner, I figured this was a great time to feature Gary Barlow as our latest TOO Hot Tuesday!! ~Warren

SUPERSTAR Gary Barlow is taking on Simon Cowell — with his own pop reality show on the BBC.

The Take That singer wants to rival Simon’s X Factor with his format which is expected to hunt for a new boyband.

The singer-songwriter is pushing the idea after setting up his own music label, backed by Universal — the arch rival of Simon’s record label Sony BMG.

He offered the idea first to ITV. He worked with them on last year’s musical reality flop Britannia High.

But chiefs turned him down over fears they would annoy Simon — their Ј20million star signing. So the 37-year-old singer went to the BBC who love the concept and want it to air later this year.

Insiders predict the show — which will involve singing and dancing — could end up replacing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s reality programmes.

A BBC source told TV Biz: “Gary is really keen to get into TV and has come up with a cracking idea. We’ve got high hopes for it. If it gets off the ground it could be something we do every year.”

Take That — who reformed in 2006 — are contracted to release one more album and then could disband for good.

Gary recently revealed his desire to take on Simon. He told The Sun: “I will do what he has done — but my way.”

Gary, even recalls trying to take the advice of Elton John and live up to his popstar image by hiring a butler called Maurice.

Gary confessed: "Yeah I was totally into that 'what are pop stars supposed at act like?' frame of mind. He cooked and cleaned and he looked after Robbie a fair bit.

"Robbie would go to Dublin or somewhere and get off his head. He didn't want to go home and face his mum. Maurice would make him a meal and then send him home."

Take That star Gary Barlow has said that he found it hard to cope with the fact that people sneered at him after the group split.

Speaking to Q magazine, the singer and songwriter said: "I was really embarrassed to use my credit card over the phone because when I said 'Gary Barlow' people would just laugh or sneer. Not a good experience at all."

Barlow said that he now finds it "funny" that his Take That doll was thrown in for free when people bought the other four.

"I was never angry about it at all. The Take That dolls didn't sell very well. They go for top money on eBay now."

"I've got one in my attic. How weird is that? There's got to be a horror movie in that somewhere."

The Take That star, 38, beat former Beatles John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney, 66, in second and third.

Gary, who has won five Ivor Novello awards, has penned some of the group’s biggest hits, as well as writing for other acts including boyband Blue.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, 32, was fourth in the poll of 3,000 music fans.

Gary’s former Take That bandmate Robbie Williams, 34, struggled in eighth place. Former writing partner Guy Chambers, 46, who worked on many of Robbie’s hits, was 12th.

A spokesman for pollsters www.onepoll.com said: “Gary Barlow has been responsible for some of the biggest hits of the past decade, and now this poll proves that.

“A lot of people aren’t aware that he has also written songs that have done well in the charts for other artists.”
