| GARY Barlow is talking himself into writing a very big cheque to Chris Martin.
The Coldplay frontman could claim a chunk of royalties after Gary admitted Chris and co provided the inspiration for the manband's reunion.
The Take That star reckons he had given up hope of returning to the stage until he became obsessed with Coldplay's Parachutes.
He said: "I spent years telling everyone around that I didn't want to be an artist again. I didn't sing for six or seven years.
"I seldom sang on demos and if I could get someone else to sing then I would, right until I heard the first Coldplay album.
"I realised that you could be in a rock band and not have a husky rasp - Chris has the most beautiful voice.
"I thought for the first time, 'I could see myself doing that again'.
"For the first time in years I could see that place.
"I have told Chris that story - it's all part of the journey, passing the baton from band to band."
That sounds like an unusual relay race. The baton would be a yoga mat if Chris had his way - or a packet of Jaffa Cakes if it was down to Gary.
Gary has even put the success of the manband's 2006 comeback album, Beautiful World, down to the way Coldplay tunes were put together.
It was only after listening to tracks like Yellow on repeat in his bedroom that he finally started making songs for his group again.
Gary, who sang with Chris at his own 40th birthday bash in January, said: "I was so inspired by that stuff. I used to play and sing it on my own. So when I came back I imagined that sound and the guitars and imagined the stadium sound of a Coldplay song.
"I thought that could work for us, especially as a vocal group as well.
"Obviously there are not usually many harmonies with Coldplay but I hear them and I could hear where they would fit.
"I thought that was very much a direction that could work for us."

| Gary Barlow has been talking to us about Robbie Williams' past, present and future.
It’s been an amazing year for both the boys having completed their record-breaking sell-out tour with Take That. Now it's over, Gary has been talking to us in more detail about his and Robbie's relationship.
"Since me and Rob have started writing together again, which is about two years ago, we actually never stopped. We love each other's company, we love writing together and hoping this partnership stays together for a long time."
He also spoke about Robbie's plans to go solo again and whether he think he'll be successful again.
"I hope so, I wanted to see him back, he's a brilliant, brilliant performer. When i was backstage i had a little monitor so I could always keep my eye on him [laughs] and to see him shine like that made my tour."

| ADELE'S album 21 has sold more than nine million copies worldwide and spent 18 weeks at No1 in Britain — but Gary Barlow is one of the few who is not a fan.
The Take That star, 40, told her he was "sick" of her tunes after being forced to sit through too many renditions of them at X Factor auditions.
He made the frank admission when he met the Londoner backstage at one of his group's concerts at Wembley Stadium this summer.
He revealed on Chris Moyles' Radio 1 show: "This year has been all Adele. We're sick of Adele.
"She came to one of the Wembley shows and I said to her, 'I've got to be honest, I'm really sick of your album because it's all that's been played at X Factor.'
"But she completely understood. And Lady GaGa, we've really had enough of them two."
Gary, who is masterminding this year's Children In Need single, also confessed he was nervous before the TV launch of the new ITV1 series last Saturday.
However, he managed to avoid the torment of sitting through the broadcast — courtesy of David Walliams.
Gary said: "I was really, really nervous, and about a week before, thankfully, I got an invitation to David Walliams's birthday party the same night.
"So I thought, 'Oh yes, brilliant, we can get out of the house,' because I really didn't want to be there watching it, feeling nervous, dreading every word I was going to say.
"It was a good distraction."
Gary's full of praise for fellow judges Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos, but he's formed a particularly close bond with former Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland.
Not that she had much of a clue who he was when she first joined the panel.
Gary said: "We've had a few people do Take That songs, and we had one guy from a lookalike Take That band, and he was me — it wasn't like looking in the mirror.
"I could kind of tell that Kelly was hearing the song for the first time. So I said to Kelly, 'This is how enormous I am in this country.'"

We at are frankly sickened by what a nasty piece of work Gary Barlow has become of late. Why, it's almost as if an extremely lucrative job he recently secured requires him to pretend to be thoroughly unpleasant.
What a nice chap he used to be, too: writing cheerful pop ditties our mums liked, walking up mountains with Chris Moyles for charity, and helpfully distracting Mark Owen's wife for half an hour while he nipped out and had a few affairs.
But now? Just watch him in his X Factor chair, sitting sideways on, a little bit like Simon Cowell used to, holding up a derisory hand to stop the music, a little bit like Simon Cowell used to, and making snide comments about the contestants, a little bit like Simon Cowell used to. How dare he.
We wish we could say that's where it ended. We really wish that. But we can't. For, after a good eight minutes of research, we have uncovered five deeply, shamefully horrid things Gary Barlow has recently done.

It's true though, isn't it? We know you've all been thinking it too on Saturday night while you're getting your fix of X Factory goodness.
It goes a little something like this: What happened to that Gary Barlow, eh? Wasn't he the ugly one with the good voice? Why do I suddenly find myself wanting to reach into my screen and rip off his shirt and play with his beard?
Well, we have the answer. Some men get older and go downhill. Their hairlines start receding, a little shiny spot of bald comes upon their head, their cheeks go south and get a bit jowly, their eyelids start to sag and god forbid a man who has had work (just think David Gest) because that NEVER looks right.
But other men (George Clooney is a fine example of this) just get better with age. Their boyish faces become refined with man-wrinkles (these are different to ladies wrinkles, somehow they suit a bloke), they get a salt'n'pepper sprinkle of grey through their locks and they lose the questionable styling of their youth.
So we'd like to make an official apology to Gary Barlow, for never fancying him in the days of Take That. We were wrong. We never knew you'd turn out this way, you sexy little minx.

EMOTIONAL Gary Barlow has told how he struggled to "find himself" again after his life fell apart when he lost his solo record deal.
The X Factor judge, 40, opened up to the boys he is mentoring in the contest, urging them to learn from his experience.
He delivered the heartfelt two-hour chat to the young singers after they arrived in Los Angeles for training.
Gary said: "This is a very special place for me as in 1999 when I lost my record deal I didn't know what to do. So I came to LA to start again and to think about everything.
"Being here took me back to the music, which is what it has always been about.
"This town is full of music, and I hope you find yourselves in the same way that I did." Gary has previously told how he piled on weight and became "very depressed" after Sony BMG pulled the plug on his post-Take That career.
Despite his first solo album being a hit, his second flopped so badly the record company even RECALLED the single he was due to release.
He admitted: "I really did think it was all over as a musician."
His eight hopefuls — who made it through boot camp to the "judges' houses" round — yesterday performed for him and ex-bandmate Robbie Williams at Gary's rented villa.
They each sang two songs for Gary and "guest mentor" Robbie, 37. Gary will choose four to make the live shows.

| GARY Barlow's X Factor hopefuls had to get past his MUM to make it to the live finals of the singing show.
The Take That star flew Marjorie, 66, to Los Angeles to film the judge's house stage this week.
She joined his guest judge Robbie Williams to watch the eight boys' performances and give her verdict.
Judge Gary, 40, told The Sun: "She is in my ear about who she wants. She has been to a few of the audition days and watched the audition tapes."
Gary admitted that, despite his Take That success, his X Factor-mad mum only thought he had "made it" when he got the judging job.
But she was shocked when he was sometimes booed.
He revealed: "I said to her, 'I have been cheered for 20 years, it is time to be booed'."
