| NO wonder Gary Barlow is minted – he used to charge his Take That bandmates a quid every time they used his phone.
He let the secret slip after Robbie Williams revealed he hadn't owned a mobile since 2006 while interviewing Gary for his new radio show, Rudebox Radio.
Robbie said: "I own no phone apart from the house phone.
"I just use everyone else's, I think I've used yours, Gary, I think I've used Jay's."
Gary said: "I was thinking of charging you but I thought that I can't do that again.
"It used to be a quid per phone call. Can you imagine what it would be now?"
The lads then had a game of question/answer, where Gary revealed Howard Donald is his favourite band member.
And Gary admitted that he's gutted he doesn't sing lead vocals on the band's 1995 chart-topper Never Forget.
He said: "The only thing wrong with Never Forget, for me, is that I'm not singing it.
"We used to divvy up stuff per record and when we first recorded the song it wasn't the stand-out hit that it became, so I said, 'Here you are, Howard'.
"Then it had a big mix and it was just a different record when it came back, I was like, 'Ey up'."
H from Steps probably felt the same about 5,6,7,8.
Robbie also reckoned the first single he ever bought was Living Next Door To Alice by Smokie.
And the first CD he ever owned was Bon Jovi's Livin' On A Prayer.
That's unforgivable.

| Take That’s latest split may have been amicable but could the bonhomie come to an end over a luxury penthouse?
Jason Orange, 41, and Robbie Williams, 37, have expressed an interest in the same £5.5 million property in Central St Giles, off Holborn in Central London. Jason was spotted viewing the property – which takes up the entire 11th floor and comes with a huge roof terrace – last week. He was shortly followed by Robbie’s manager, Tim Clark.
The development is also home to Google’s London offices and Jamie Oliver is to open a branch of Union Jack there next month.

Gary Barlow has spoken out about how he believes Robbie Williams will make a super father.
‘I think Robbie will make a brilliant dad,' says Gary, 40.
‘He's got the mind of a 9-year-old! In all seriousness though, he's great.'
Robbie, 37, who helped The X Factor judge pick his final acts for the live shows, married Ayda Field in August 2010.
But he still feels he's not mature enough for children.
'When I go past Hyde Park and look at mothers with prams and dads with footballs, I think: "Oh no!" I already look knackered as it is,' Robbie admitted last year.
'Heavens knows what's going to happen to me once I have a kid.'
Gary - dad to Daniel, 11, Emily, 9, and Daisy, 2 - is sure Robbie will adapt. His own trio are thrilled about their father being on TV every week.
'My son sits playing Nintendo all the way through my concerts, they're not mad about what I do,' he tells the Daily Star. 'But being a judge on X Factor, they couldn't believe it.
'They are absolutely loving it.'

| Robbie Savage has been seeking advice on his 'Strictly Come Dancing' routines from Robbie Williams.
The 36-year-old retired footballer - who is partnered alongside Ola Jordan in the BBC One show - has been sending recordings of his live performances to his Take That singer pal, who has been giving him tips about how he can improve various aspects of his dancing.
He told ITV1's 'Loose Women': "I record the routines and send to a friend in Los Angeles, Robbie Williams. He has been emailing me back and saying what I can do with my posture.
"He's helping me. He's going to come over next month to watch the show if I'm still in it."
The 'Angels' hitmaker has been urging his fans to vote for Savage, but he struggles to tell the difference between the long-haired Welshman and his stunning professional partner Ola Jordan.
He wrote on his blog: "If you can find it in your heart to vote for another 'Robbie' (who's a friend of mine) Robbie Savage . then I would be most pleased.
"I love him and I think he's doing a cracking job. Though I'm not sure which one's the girl when they're dancing."

| Speaking on the Sky Living series Steps Reunion, Ian, 35, said: "We were at Top of the Pops and I was sat on my own in a corridor. I remember Robbie came over to me and he put his arm around me and said, 'It's time to leave' and I went, 'Yeah'.

| OLLY Murs’ wildest dreams have finally come true.
After catching Robbie Williams’ eye on the X Factor two years ago, their bromance has reached dizzying heights.
Olly has landed the support slot on Robbie’s European tour next year.
The X Factor stud bagged Rob as his mentor, with the Take That legend, 37, vowing to take him under his wing.
After hours of male bonding and chest puffing around Robbie’s Los Angeles mansion he asked Olly to come on tour with him.
Olly, 27, revealed: “It was great seeing Robbie again, we haven’t had chance to chat in a long time.
“He’s always been really supportive of me, he’s a great bloke.
“We chatted about his new album and I heard a few bits. It was shame it was all finished because I would have loved to have worked with him.
“But in the meantime he has asked if I would support him on tour next year.
“We are just thrashing it out now, but that would be amazing. Imagine going on tour with Robbie Williams. I’d love it.”
But Olly quickly realised he would need to find a wing man for the tour after parties.
The only Special Brew tee-total Robbie likes these days is a cup of PG Tips.
Olly added: “Robbie doesn’t really like to party.
“But Gary (Barlow) treated us to a really expensive steak dinner in LA. I offered to pay, but he insisted.
“He’s a real gent Gary, a really lovely bloke like that.”

| WHEN it comes to mother-in-laws, most of us tread somewhat carefully...
Sadly, no one told Robbie Williams who, despite being on the radio, astonishingly quizzed his missus Ayda’s mum on how she lost her virginity.
In a jaw-dropping moment, he even challenged poor Gwento reveal the details of what she was wearing in the throes of her first passion.
To make matters worse, her daughter Ayda was present in the studio during the intimate interrogation on Rob’s Rudebox Radio station.
And she must have been squirming as her mother – after an awkward silence – finally revealed: “A night shirt... a night gown... and a smile.” Erm, too much information.
But Rob, 37, was on a roll and didn’t stop there. Next, he recalled the knee-trembling moment he lost his virginity, while proudly wearing his school uniform.
The Rock DJ singer couldn’t wait to fess up to how he first got intimate when he was just a lad at St Margaret Ward Roman Catholic School in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent. He said: “I was wearing a blazer, tie, shirt and a pair of Farah slacks. It wasn’t a court appearance, we had to go to school in uniform.”
Aside from treating fans to some of his new tunes, Rob also answered such deep and meaningful questions as: “What would you do if your partner put on 35lbs?”
Ayda, 32, gushed: “You’re a Ferrari now – and you would be 35lbs from now.”
Rob replied: “Aww, that’s sweet. I would love you all the same but I know you wouldn’t be happy.”
Ayda quipped: “Do I put the donut down now?”
Jack and Vera Duckworth had nothing on these two. But, please, no more embarrassing strolls down memory lane.

| Savage has been close pals with Robbie Williams for years and the pop megastar has been happy to give a word or two of advice.
Tonight the former Wales international will samba to Hot Chocolate's disco classic You Sexy Thing.
But last week, Savage performed the salsa to Williams's hit Let Me Entertain You in front of 6,500 people at Wembley Arena and 11million TV viewers.
He said: "It was amazing to dance at Wembley rather than play football there.
"It was one of the best nights of my life — I felt like a rock star.
"It was an honour to open the biggest show on television."
Savage's dance partner, Ola Jordan, has caused a stir with her barely-there catsuits and the pair are a formidable team.
But with Robbie Williams's experience of performing dance routines during his 20-year pop career, Savage admits he could not resist asking his old pal for help.
He revealed: "I emailed Robbie a video of my salsa rehearsal asking how should I do it. He told me, 'Attack it, just do it like you think you're the best, it works for me', so I attacked it like my mate told me to.
"He was going to come to Wembley but unfortunately he couldn't make it.
"He's been giving me lots of advice, though. He's been round my house in the past and he's another one who gets nervous before a performance.
"I've emailed him a clip of every dance I've done and he gives me some help.
"He said I have to go out there and just think I'm the bee's knees, so that's what I'm going to do."
Williams has even engaged in some online banter with his pal, saying on his blog: "If you can find it in your heart to vote for another 'Robbie' (who's a friend of mine) then vote for Robbie Savage — I would be most pleased.
"I mean come on, what other footballer would do this?
"I love him and I think he's doing a cracking job, though I'm not sure which one's the girl when they're dancing!"
Strictly has definitely changed Savage's life. As a footballer he started as an apprentice at Manchester United and went on to play for Leicester, Birmingham, Blackburn and Derby County.
But thanks to the glitz and glamour of the hit BBC show, he now has an entirely new fan base.
Savage smiled: "It took me an hour to get into Westfield shopping centre this week as little girls, their mums and grandmas all wanted to stop and chat.
"It makes a difference to the usual comments of 'Robbie Savage, you're a w*****'. As a footballer, people would say that sort of stuff to me all the time — you just have to walk past and ignore it.
"It's unbelievable how it's changed since Strictly. It's nice to feel a bit of love. Apart from the home fans at matches I've never really had it before.
"There were lots of fans at my DVD signing — most were Strictly-mad and not football fans."
With the show's final looming on December 17, Savage admits he's getting more nervous.
He says: "There are not many non-musically minded, non dancers, non-theatrical people left — and I'm one of them.
"So I'm proud of what I've achieved so far. I'm nervous now.
"I'm swimming against the tide every week. I'm terrified before I go on.
"There have been two or three occasions where, after Sir Bruce has called our name and we're walking down the stairs to perform, I've grabbed Ola's hand and said, 'I've forgotten the dance' and had a total mind blank.
"But as soon as you start moving your body your muscles remember it even though in your head you don't know whether it's left or right next.
"Before I go out I'm shaking and my hands are sweating, I'm just petrified. My goal was always to make it to Wembley so I'm hoping now it'll be a bit easier. Anything after Wembley is a bonus."
Before Strictly the only dancing the 37-year-old had done was at his wedding — his world was totally focused on football.
He said: "I love football, it's my number one passion, doing Match Of The Day 2, Football Focus and ESPN is what I do and where my comfort zone is and I love it.
"I've even got a football DVD out this Christmas, Robbie Savage: Football Howlers, which I'm doing the voiceover for.
"But Strictly has opened my eyes to new opportunities and I hope other people's eyes to the fact I'm a decent guy with a bit of banter about him."
Savage has had a lot of support from within football and through Twitter fans around the world wishing him luck — he has more than 562,000 followers.
But he has also received abusive messages, death threats and sickening posts targeted at his dad Colin, 64, who suffers from Pick's disease, a form of dementia similar to Alzheimer's.
Savage has spoken movingly of his dad's battle with the illness, calling Colin his "hero" and saying he would "give up everything in my life if it would make my dad better".
He said: "You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I get on Twitter. Nasty comments on my dad's dementia — that's really bad. The worst words you'll ever hear."
But he added: "Twitter has also been really good to me and for every two bad comments there are five good ones."
He's had messages of support from Lord Sugar, golfer Lee Westwood, ex-England cricket captain Michael Vaughan and Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles.
Savage's wife Sarah and sons Charlie, eight, and Freddie, five are also massively supportive of his Strictly endeavours.
And young Freddie even inspired Savage's hip-thrusting dance move, which sparked more than 300 complaints from viewers. But Savage is unrepentant. "My boys and my wife love it," he said.
"The hip thrust was a move inspired by my five-year-old son. Ola came round to our house, played Michael Jackson and that's the move he did, he loved it.

"To get criticism and be called vulgar and deplorable for that dance was beyond me. Some people need to get a life."
The Strictly schedule is gruelling and Savage reckons he puts in around 60 hours a week with training and interviews.
Last week he was laid low by a stomach bug which meant he missed a day's training, but he has no intention of letting anything — let alone food poisoning — stop him dancing.
After starting out by scoring just two points from judge Craig Revel Horwood for his first dance, Savage is proud of how far he's come.
"I'm proud of myself to get as far as I have in the competition," he said, "On Saturday I'll probably get a bit of stick from the judges, which I'm ready for, but now I just want to entertain people."
That includes Strictly fan the Duchess of Cornwall who yesterday swapped Prince Charles for a cha-cha-cha as she stepped in as a guest judge during rehearsals.
She joined stars for a tour of the studio and took a new throne alongside acid-tongued Craig behind the judges' desk.

| Olly Murs has credited Robbie Williams with showing him how to open up in the art of songwriting.
Speaking to The Irish Daily Star Murs explained why he enjoys writing his own songs saying: "Artists that just come out and pick songs and sing them have to have emotion behind them. The actual achievement and feeling you get when you write a song, and everyone sings it back is the best feeling in the world."
He added: "That's why Robbie is one of my idols. I loved when he did No Regrets and She's The One."

Murs further pitched in: "Everyone saw a different side to him - not this tough wild child that Robbie was. You can really feel what he was feeling and he inspired me to get into writing."

| RADIO 1 DJ Scott Mills has vowed to have a wild New Year with his family - after spending last year's sober at Robbie Williams' LA mansion.
Scott revealed: "I'm planning on staying in the UK as I've not seen my family for ages.
"Last year I went to LA after Christmas and stayed with Robbie Williams, as you do. He invited me to his house saying: 'We are going to be there so come over.'
"He asked me three or four times whereas if it had been just once I'd have thought, 'yeah, yeah'.
"I went and just sat there for a week at New Year, watching TV and doing lots of running up hills as Robbie was getting ready for the Take That tour.
"It was exciting but it was booze-free because Robbie hasn't touched drink for years. It feels weird drinking round people who don't drink.
"His place was like the Home Alone house, like a winter wonderland with snowmen and everything. I kind of wanted to stay there."
Scott got close to another Hollywood star, too - well, he saw Paris Hilton's staff taking down her decorations.
He said: "Paris Hilton lives down the road and at one point I saw them taking down the Christmas decorations from her house.
"She didn't do it personally, of course. They have someone in the road who takes them down for them. Obviously."
The chatty drive time host was in Carlisle yesterday for the world premiere of his film, Radio 1's Big Weekend Movie, at The University of Cumbria.
Scott and his team recorded footage for the feature at Radio 1'Big Weekend in May.
He said: "There are some really nice stories in there that might make you cry. I cried when I saw them.
"There is a wedding which is really sweet because you see the back story and get to know the There's couple. There's also a couple of best friends who have not seen one another in ages because one lives in Australia."
The film, which Scott describes as being "a day in the life with pop stars", also includes cameos from Jessie J and Nicole Scherzinger and her former fiance Lewis Hamilton.
He said: "We had a really good time making it. Jessie J is in the toilet at one point and she checks out her trailer and complains about things in a jokey way.
"It's sad when Nicole Scherzinger goes to the dressing room, the door opens and Lewis Hamilton is there."
Scott invited pal David Hasselhoff to come to the big premiere but the Baywatch star was too busy in panto in Bristol to attend.
He said: "The Hoff is one of my big Hollywood connections but he's hes too busy playing Hook."

X Factor boss Simon Cowell is reportedly planning on bringing in Robbie Williams to join Gary Barlow on The X Factor next year. According to Reveal magazine, Simon wants to play on the Take That stars’ rivalry in a bid to boost ratings.
Insiders have claimed that the music mogul also hopes that the move will encourage Gary to stay on the series, after hinting that he was going to quit after only one year on the panel.
Gary previously admitted: “I’m taking some time off next year to remind myself who my children are. Next year doesn’t even feel like it’s approaching.”
Big changes are set for the new series after this year’s show lost over 4 million viewers in just 12 months, with the new look panel being blamed for the decline in ratings.
“Simon has even discussed the possibility of getting Robbie Williams as a judge, playing on old tensions between Robbie and Gary to move forward in terms of the male judges,” an insider claimed.
The source added: “These are the desperate measures to try and save the show.”
Applications for The X Factor 2012 are currently open, with auditions starting in the Spring.

| ROBBIE Williams has always been a mummy’s boy, but now he’s a mummy-in-law’s boy too!
While most blokes leave it to their missus to buy their mother-in-law a Christmas prezzie, Robbie, 37, bought his a plush new pad.
He’s shelled out £7million on a mansion for wife Ayda Field’s mum Gwen to live in free of charge.
Gwen moved in with the newlyweds a year ago when the mortgage payments on her LA home became too much.
She stayed in a cottage in the grounds of Robbie’s £13m estate in the Mulholland Drive area of Beverly Hills. Now he’s forked out for the house next door for her and is even picking up all the bills.
A pal tells Goss: “Rob gets on really well with Gwen. They often stay up late playing poker and she even joined him and Ayda on Take That’s reunion tour.
“She’s been through a tough time financially and she’s like a second mum to him, so it seemed a natural thing for him to offer the home to live in.
“The property is an investment so he sees it as a mutual deal. He looks after her and she looks after his homes and his dogs whenever he and Ayda are away.
“He’s very generous by nature and Gwen is really grateful for all he’s doing for her.” Gwen enjoys the run of the three-bedroom, three-bathroom property which sources say is like an “open hotel”, with regular visits from Ayda’s brother Dylan and friends of Robbie.
All she has to do is train his dogs and act as housekeeper.
Robbie and Ayda, 32, live in their own seven-bedroom home which has six bathrooms, a library, tennis courts and a football pitch. Neighbours include Hollywood actors Sylvester Stallone, 65, and Eddie Murphy, 50.

| British singer Robbie Williams looks set to become a father next year (12) - his wife Ayda is vowing to start a family as her New Year's resolution.
The Take That star married the American actress at his home in Los Angeles in August last year (10) and speculation has been rife the pair is planning to have children in the near future.
Williams insisted he wasn't ready for parenthood earlier this year (11), but Ayda has now revealed she hopes to fall pregnant in 2012.
During a two-hour webchat on Williams' Radio Rudebox online show Ayda was cheered as she told the singer she aimed "to be the best wife and to hopefully start a beautiful family" in the new year.
And Williams added his own New Year's resolutions, saying, "I want to be a better husband. I want to be a better guy and I want to be as happy as I can be. I also wanna get really fit next year, I have got an album coming out and I want to look the best pop star I can look at that time.
"So there will be Ocd running up hills I think. I am going to ask for happiness, that is all you need."
