| IT was a "poignant" tribute when superstar Robbie Williams dedicated his song Angels to a little boy who died three years ago.
Matthew Hall passed away November 21, 2009, aged seven.

And when his mum Mel, 40, was at one of Robbie Williams' concerts, the superstar paid tribute to the little boy she had lost.
Speaking to a crowd of hundreds, he said: "I was going to write this kid's name down. I want to dedicate this next song, which is Angels, to him. I think his name's Matthew."
He then noticed Mel Hall in the crowd as her friends were reacting around her.
"Is he your son?" he asked her. "Oh, bless you, what a beautiful little boy."
Mel has recently run an awareness campaign of Batten Disease, which stole her son's health.
As part of this, she tweets regularly about Matthew from account @MelHall10.
And those at the concert, who knew of her story, had tweeted the music star and asked him to dedicate a song to Matthew.
"God bless you mummy, this one's for your son," said Robbie, who has just became a dad to baby Theodora Rose.
Mel, of Bishop's Cleeve, said it had been a touching tribute to her boy.
She said: "Robbie was very sweet and very sincere. It was very poignant. Matthew was such a special little boy." Matthew first started showing symptoms of the nervous system disorder when he was three.
One afternoon, on the way to Woodmancote Primary, he turned pale, stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated.
It was the start of years of brain scans, lumbar punctures, blood tests, and hospital visits before the family got a diagnosis.
"Getting the diagnosis was a relief in that we finally had a label for what we were dealing with, although I had found references to Batten Disease before and I knew deep down that that's what he had," said Mel.
"But it also meant that we had to come to terms with having a child who wasn't going to live very long."
Mel, who has another son Tom, 12, changed her life to prioritise the needs of Matthew, knowing that the life expectancy for someone with Batten, which is very rare, is eight to 12 years.
But Matthew faded quickly, losing the ability to walk, talk and see, and he died just after his seventh birthday.

| The UFO spotter predicts he and his wife Ayda Field’s baby will grow up to be ‘quirky’ but with plenty of manners.
‘I can’t help thinking... her mum’s a comedian and actress and her dad is me,’ explained the proud new dad. ‘I just want a really quirky, kind kid. As long as she’s kind and has got good manners then we’re cool.’
Outlining his parenting approach after his daughter’s arrival on Tuesday, Williams is determined not to let his girl grow up to be a spoilt celebrity brat.
‘All I want her to have is manners, [To say] "Yes please" and "thank you", and to be kind,’ the 38-year-old told BBC Breakfast.
‘Those are the things I want her to be and if she’s those things then she can get away with murder for me.’
The former Take That star admitted he’ll face a challenge in laying down the rules following his own chequered past.
‘It’s going to be really difficult for her to get in trouble though with me,’ he admitted.
‘My cousin, who I used to get in trouble with when I was about 12 or 13, his kids are now that age and he gives them a right rollicking.’

| New father Robbie Williams has admitted that he envies the new boy-band in town, One Direction. The singer, 38 - who has been performing a number of low-key solo gigs across the UK - told Radio 1 that he wishes he was in the young group’s shoes as they continue to take the pop world by storm.
Though Williams has had his fair share of hits, and made his fair share of money, he explained to DJ Greg James, “I'm jealous of them and I wish I was doing it all with them…I've met all the boys, but it was a long time ago. I am quoted as saying, 'Robbie Williams slammed One Direction. Robbie Williams had a go at One Direction'. I really didn't - I love the boys.” The Take That star, whose brand of on-stage bravado has probably influenced the One Direction lads, added, “I'm looking forward to seeing where the road takes them for many years to come I hope. They do perform like they've never met each other and there's a certain charm to that too. It's brilliant.”
We can’t imagine Robbie is pining too much for the pop-star touring schedules, having become a father for the first time. His wife Ayda Field gave birth to Theodora Rose (affectionately known as Teddy) in London last week.

| Singer Robbie Williams was unsurprised by Britain's News of the World hacking scandal as he spent years convinced his phone was illegally tapped.
A slew of celebrities, including actors Hugh Grant, Jude Law and Sienna Miller, learned their privacy had been compromised after a private detective working for the now-defunct tabloid intercepted their voicemail messages.
Williams previously admitted he threw out his cell phone years ago over fears it had been targeted, and now admits his paranoia seemed justified when the controversy began to dominate headlines in his native Britain last year (11).
When asked if he was hacked, he tells Gq.com, "Oh, yes. I saw my number, and the names, and other people's names. I was aware of it in 2006, when I got rid of my phone...
"It wasn't surprising in any way - I already thought it was happening. I only ever had to think something and it was in the papers the next morning. I know and understood how they get to people.
"I've lived in a world where you're paranoid that people are doing it and that was already happening anyway. The phone-hacking scandal was just a bit more confirmation. One of the best things about living in California is being distanced from my constant need to impress people back home."

| HIS last solo album didn’t exactly set the music charts on fire but Robbie Williams, pictured, has slammed his fellow pop stars saying they are unoriginal and no competition.
When the 38-year-old, who is releasing new single Candy this month, his first solo effort since 2009, was asked which artiste he saw as a rival, he said: “There isn’t anyone. Not Gaga. There is nobody doing what I do. I don’t see anything, especially with the way pop is going now. I am not knocking them all.”
The former Take That singer, whose wife Ayda gave birth to their first child Theodora last month, also laid into such chart toppers as Katy Perry and Rihanna saying they were interchangeable and churning out the same music. “You get Katy Perry one week, you get Britney Spears the next, Rihanna the week after,” he told GQ magazine. “They are all going to the same place and inevitably the charts all sound the same. Everyone has become a lot narrower.
“So the charts have become a lot less interesting because of it. Bananarama seem wild and aggressive compared with what we have now. You can’t be ugly any more. Look at Noddy Holder, he’s actually a good looking man but he wouldn’t get a look-in today.”

| Robbie Williams is reportedly spending a fortune each month in order to keep his Los Angeles home.
The 'Candy' singer recently moved to Wiltshire in the UK with wife Ayda Field and their baby Theodora Rose, but still owns his US property.

"Robbie has a fleet of staff in LA, people to look after his plants, his terrapins, his dogs, his paintings as well as cleaners, butlers, chauffeurs and security," a source close to the family told the Daily Star.
"It's like a giant luxury world class hotel with swimming pools, lake and gardens but no guests.
"The staff are doing their chores but with no-one living there it's pretty sad."
Williams and Field welcomed their first child together last month, and are looking to settle down in the UK to raise her.

However, the singer reportedly plans to keep their LA home in case he ever wants to have a change of scenery.
The source added: "Ayda is happy to get rid of the LA house but Robbie hates the UK weather and wants to be able to go back to California at the drop of a hat, so it's worth it to him."

An amateur actor who studies at Bath Spa University had to brush up his football skills for his latest role alongside singer Robbie Williams.
Scott Stevenson, 29, will be shown playing a goalkeeper in an advert for the star's new autumn and winter Farrell Clothing fashion range after spending a day kicking a football around with him and singer Olly Murs.
The advert involved Scott and other supporting actors playing in a five-a-side football match in the middle of a busy London park.
He said: "Details had to be very secret and we all got driven to the site in a blacked-out car and had to hide Robbie and Olly out of public view before filming could begin.
"As people passed by walking their dogs, no one seemed to know what was happening as cameras were carefully out of view.
"It just looked as though a few mates were having a kick about.
"We spent about ten hours having a laugh playing football before we wrapped and Robbie caught a flight back to LA."
Scott, who lives in Midsomer Norton, is studying environmental science at the university and said he chose acting as he needed a flexible job, but has no aspirations to become a full-time actor. He joined agencies and acted in student films and low-budget productions before attend castings and auditions, landing roles in films and TV series.

| Melanie C is in Dublin tonight for “Jesus Christ Superstar” at The 02. It’s also on tomorrow night. She plays Mary Magdalene and although it might seem odd to see Sporty Spice in a musical, that’s where she started her career before joining The Spice Girls.
Back at the very start of the Spice Girls, she dated Robbie Williams so we had to quiz her about that…..she joked “oh my Lord that one’s not come up for a while flippin heck ha ha ha”. So did she congratulate him on the birth of his little girl Teddy? Melanie said “well I’m very happy for him and his wife that they have a child – a little girl. That’s fantastic but I don’t really know Robbie and I haven’t seen him for YEARS so he’s not kinda one of my friends”.
She told 98FM how Boyzone and the Spice Girls were out at the same time so they used to go to lots of events together. Melanie C said “I only saw Ronan a few weeks ago. We have the same agent so we’re often at the same things. In fact, we sang together at our agent’s wedding – we sang When You’re Gone so I know Ronan much better than Robbie…….ha ha ha ….not in THAT way….gosh I stitched myself up there” she laughed!

| A Midsomer Norton man working his way through university as a supporting actor had to brush up his football skills for his latest role alongside singer Robbie Williams.
Scott Stevenson, 29, will be shown playing a goalkeeper in an advert for the star's new autumn and winter Farrell Clothing fashion range after spending a day kicking a football around with him, and singer Olly Murs.
He said: "Details had to be very secret and we all got driven to the site in a blacked-out car and had to hide Robbie and Olly out of public view before filming could begin.
"As people passed by walking their dogs, no one seemed to know what was happening as cameras were carefully out of view – it just looked as though a few mates were having a kick about.
"We spent about ten hours having a laugh playing football before we wrapped and Robbie caught a flight back to LA."
Mr Stevenson is studying environmental science at Bath Spa University and said he chose acting as he needed a flexible job but has no aspirations to become a full-time actor.
He joined a few agencies and acted in student films and low-budget productions before attend castings and auditions, landing roles in films and TV series.
Mr Stevenson has recently won a role in the new Simon Pegg comedy World's End which is due to be released next year.
He is also a supporting artist on the film production of Les Miserables starring Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman, playing a member of the chain gang.
Mr Stevenson can also be seen as a recurring and persistent policeman zombie alongside actors Corey Feldman and Termininator 2's Edward Furlong in The Zombie King which was filmed around Shepton Mallet and Blagdon, and is due for release soon.
In all he has worked on 11 films including the recently released The Wedding Video where he was also comedian Rufus Hound's body double.
Mr Stevenson said: "Because I was of similar size. I had to go through his movements so the director could achieve what he needed regards to lighting, camera angles and interacting with other cast etc."
His appearances on television include Lewis, Casualty, Trollied, Skins and more recently in Doctor Who where he had a small acting role in an episode due to be shown early next year.
But while he enjoys his acting work he is looking forward to forging a career in the environmental sector.
Mr Stevenson said: "I have no aspirations of becoming a full-time actor but appearing in the odd film or TV show is a lot of fun and great for a bit of extra cash."

| Robbie Williams almost quit music after his last three albums flopped.
The 'Candy' hitmaker admits he had grown tired of his career after the moderate success of 'Reality Killed the Video Star', 'Rudebox' and 'Intensive Care', but felt ''liberated'' by the fact he was no longer concerned with success.
He said: ''I feel like my navigation system was broken back then and like I wandered around aimlessly. It was liberating anyway. However, I didn't really care about my career in 2006. I just felt incredibly lethargic and like I couldn't live up to the requirements of being a pop star.''
Asked if he wanted to quit, he said: ''Quite definitely. Mentally I had already waved my career good bye.''
Robbie had already decided he wanted to give up music for a career as an artist - but found his skills in that discipline were quite limited.
He said: ''I had started to paint and wanted to become a serious artist. Unfortunately I'm an awful painter. And I'm not very good at making radical decisions. Otherwise I would have call it a day.''

Robbie Williams still feels like he is 16 years old and is finding fatherhood daunting as he has to take responsibility for the first time.

The 38-year-old singer - who recently became a father for the first time when wife Ayda Field gave birth to their daughter Theodora 'Teddy' Rose - doesn't feel he has developed more than when he first joined Take That, so is finding it hard to adjust to the idea of being a parent and taking responsibility.
He said: ''Deep inside I'm still 16. A lot of my skills stayed exactly at that level when I started my career at the age of 16. From then on everything was looked after for me, I always had people around me who managed and provided everything for me. And now there is this thought of being a father. I never had to take care of myself - and now all of a sudden I have to take care of a little human being.''
The 'Candy' star admits he is going through a ''confusing and scary'' time in his life as he is finally establishing his own identity.
He added to Germany's GQ magazine: ''At the moment there are tough negotiations between my former and my current self. Every day - literally every day I come to new realisations about who the f**k I am and what I should become. That is confusing and scary. Because I'm still the eternal teenager.''

| At 38, Robbie Williams has done it all. From his days in boy band Take That, to huge solo success globally and duets with Australian glamour-pusses Kylie Minogue and Nicole Kidman, the cheeky British pop star naturally has a few stories to dish the dirt on ...
"I f---ed my chances of ever sleeping with Kylie Minogue," Robbie laments to TheFIX on the phone from LA, where he is based.
While filming the clip for their 2000 duet 'Kids' (scroll down to watch), Kylie disrobed in front of a stunned, drunk Robbie waiting in the spa.
"I just pointed at her and laughed!" Robbie reveals.
"I think she quite rightly felt a bit sensitive about me pointing and laughing at her, because I was really f---ing drunk and Kylie Minogue got naked, and I'm like, 'As if my life wasn't surreal enough'."
"It was out of shock more than anything. She'd be lucky to get me pointing and laughing at her now!"
Robbie has mentioned the incident before in less detail, but now sees 'Kids' in a new light after having a kid of his own, one-month-old Theodora, to wife Ayda Field.
"Don't mind doing it for the kids? It brings on a whole different meaning — when daddy goes to work, there's a mouth to feed, a point to life, a reason to do things," he shares.
"I suppose that song in itself means a great deal now for all of those reasons."
Robbie adds that it's "amazing being a dad full stop", and he'll definitely get a tattoo inspired by his daughter.
"I think I might wait till she's a little bit older and then get her to draw on me, and then I'll get tattooed what she draws," he says. "Whatever she does I'm sure it'll be cute".
Three years since his last album Reality Killed The Video Star, and following on from a Take That reunion tour, Robbie is back doing what he does best on his ninth studio album, Take The Crown.
"I've never had an album before where there's such a variety of choice for me to pick singles," Robbie tells TheFIX.
Take The Crown refers to Robbie's ambition to return to being the world's biggest pop star.
"I'm taking the crown from me," he explains the album title.
"I purposefully called my album something obnoxious so that I have to live up to it for the next 18 or so months as I go on tour with it."

The lead single, 'Candy', is an infectious dig at LA girls who think they're all that. Not Kim Kardashian, perhaps?
"Yes! Funnily enough, yeah, I'm not gonna lie. Exactly who I thought it was about!" Robbie exclaims.
"Well, it's not Kim Kardashian per se, but the song is indicative of the kind of person that goes out in Los Angeles. Self-centred, uninteresting … I'm gonna get myself into trouble.
"I don't want to say that about Kim Kardashian because she's got enough people that slag her off … she's got a great career, she's making her way in the world, she's got a lovely a-- and great t---. So big up to Kim Kardashian, I think she's great!"
Robbie assures Australian fans he'll be back on our shores again soon.
"I'm thinking I'll be here for your summer next year," he adds. "I want to come down to Australia and perform for people again, I love it down there."
Robbie's new single 'Candy' is out now. 'Take The Crown' is out November 2.

| ROBBIE Williams' comeback album is being steered by two little-known Australian songwriters.
Melbourne musicians Flynn Francis and Tim Metcalfe, both 24, co-wrote seven tracks on Williams' new album Take The Crown.
"They're two young spunks from Melbourne," Williams told Cameron Adams.
"They're f ... ing amazing, really talented songwriters. Completely and utterly delusional, full of ego - they remind me of someone I used to know when I was their age. They've got the sort of delusion and ego that they could take over the world. I love the lads, I love them to bits."
The pair are in a band called Undercolours, which is yet to release any music.
During one of their many trips to LA to do intern work at recording studios the pair met Williams' brother-in-law, who later played the UK pop superstar their songs. Williams began emailing the pair and invited them back to LA to write with him last October.

"Tim and I got on a plane to LA not sure if it was a dream or a bad joke," Francis said.
"But Rob loved what we were doing, we became really good mates."
The first trip went so well they returned in November, where Williams invited Francis and Metcalfe to stay at his LA mansion, which boasts a home studio.
"He's like a freight train, he's more rock star than pop star," Francis said.
"He's incredibly inspirational to be around. He knows what he wants. He had a really clear vision of what he was going after. We're not songwriters for hire, we were making up the rules as we went along.
"But we weren't thinking these songs would be for his album, we just thought it was a fun experience to work with someone we look up to and who's such a cultural force.
"It's our big break. Rob's been a massive supporter. And he's one of the most charismatic people you could meet."
Francis and Metcalfe will fly to London next month to see the pop star's comeback show at the O2 Arena.
"It'll be incredible to hear our songs played live," Francis said. "But it won't feel real until I have the actual CD in my hand next month."
Take The Crown comes out on November 2.

The Angels singer, 38, will let one-month-old Theodora draw whatever she likes on him in pen then get it inked on.

A very interesting part is how he became friends with Robbie Williams and subsequently ended up in Russia in the singers hotel room. Their intimate discussion, drawn from the actors diary at the time is extraordinarily moving.
The first meeting with other bandmate Gary Barlow was quite different.There are the meetings with his comedy icons (alive and sadly deceased) Frankie Howerd, Kenny Everett, Rowan Atkinson and Dame Edna star Barry Humphries.

| ROBBIE WILLIAMS ducked out of a ghost-hunting trip to go UFO-spotting.
The singer asked writer JON RONSON to find a haunted house – prompting a flood of interest from posh castle owners.
Jon said: “These ladies of the manor were throwing their ghosts at Robbie as if they were their debutante daughters.”
But Robbie changed his mind and went to Nevada to talk to UFO “abductees” instead.
Now Jon is desperate to revisit their original plan and write a book with Rob where they go searching for poltergeists.
He added: “We would have been like Danger Mouse and Penfold. I would have been Penfold.
“It nearly happened. We were going to do it - but instead he decided to re-join Take That. My loss was GARY BARLOW’s gain.”

| Noel Gallagher compares his success to Robbie Williams
Noel Gallagher has compared his solo career to that of Robbie Williams after leaving 'Take That', insisting that no one else has has had that kind of ''phenomenal'' success.
Noel Gallagher thinks he is as successful as Robbie Williams.
The singer and guitarist launched his High Flying Birds solo project last year and his self-titled debut became the second highest selling album of 2011, which he thinks makes him one of the most successful UK solo stars since Robbie left Take That in 1996.
Noel - who was in Oasis until they split in 2009 - said: ''Apart from Robbie Williams after Take That, I can't think of any other bloke who's been in a big band and gone solo and had this kind of success.
''It's phenomenal. The album is back in the top ten at the moment. I guess setting out to do this I didn't have any preconceptions of what I was going to do.
''It's just going to make my life very difficult the next time - how do I top this?''
When Noel, 45, finishes touring the world to promote High Flying Birds' debut, he is looking forward to some time off with his wife Sara MacDonald and children Donovan, five, and Sonny, two. He also has a daughter, Anais, 12, from a previous relationship.
He added to Irish TV station RTE: ''I get up with the kids in the morning, see them off to school, I've got a gym in the house so I might go to the gym, appease the wife and then I really enjoy doing nothing. I'll read the papers on the internet.
''When I get off this tour, I'm having a massive party in London so I will be out of the game for a couple of days and then I'll look at football fixtures and plan the rest of the season. I won't be working for a long time after this tour.''
