Jay-Z and Robbie Williams to perform!
Two of the world’s most successful male artists have just been added to our roster of performers: rap titan Jay-Z and pop maestro Robbie Williams will both be gracing our stage as performers at this year’s EMAs! Both music industry giants are nominated for Best Male this year, while Jay-Z is also up in the Best Urban category.

We are also announcing that British soul singer/songwriter Joss Stone will not only be presenting an award, but also making her hosting debut on our 2009 EMA: Red Carpet Show. Joss will interview the stars as they arrive for our glittering event and you can watch that exclusive show right here on 5th November from 8-9 PM CET.

We’re not done yet! Our list of celebrity presenters also grows with the addition of Sports Illustrated model and actress, Bar Refaeli; WWE superstar Batista; former world #1 and Olympic gold medal-winning tennis player, Boris Becker; star of MTV’s The Hills and Bromance, Brody Jenner; and U.S. pop icons and Best Group nominees, Jonas Brothers.

We just hope the O2 World is built to hold all that starpower…

He's just been announced as a new headlining act for the upcoming MTV Europe Awards.

And he might have to up his game... as he's on the same bill as Jay-Z. Says a source: "Both are up for Best Male. It will certainly be the battle of the titans. "Jay-Z is such a showman - and if he performs with Alicia Keys or Kanye, it'll be the talk of the night. Yet Robbie could win over the crowd if he gets his swagger back."

The Bodies singer, 35, has made special arrangements for girlfriend Ayda Field to be by his side at the blockbuster music show when he makes his return in Europe after he was unveiled as a top performer along with Jay-Z this week.

Meanwhile, the comeback star will turn his new hits all classical for fans when he meshes his 'Reality Killed the Video Star' tunes with strings and horns as he opens the BBC Electric Proms at Camden's Roundhouse tomorrow.

The ceremony next week in Berlin would have been a huge deal for Robbie - especially since he's nominated for an award - and would have been a great chance for him to cement his pop comeback (and make us all forget about that wobbly X Factor performance) so what the hell else has he got in his diary that can be more important? Are Port Vale playing? Has he got a dentist's appointment? Or is something more sinister going on?

We have no idea, hence all the questions, but there's no way his devoted fans are going to sleep tonight if all they've got to work with is plain old "scheduling conflicts"...

His OTT demands simply couldn't be met, so he pulled out of the prestigious event at the last minute - making his comeback even more of a shambles.

Robbie's people were fuming after being told their ambitious set designs for his four-minute EMA performance at Berlin's O2 venue on Thursday flouted German health and safety regulations.

An MTV source tells us: "Every star is treated the same and has to work to the same parameters. Robbie is no different.

"But his reps, for some reason, said nearly everything wasn't up to scratch.

"His no-show is costing us a lot of money. We tried to be accommodating, but they walked away with a week to go. It's caused mayhem."

Sources close to Robbie say he was "understandably nervous" about playing the event, watched by millions.

And MTV insiders think his shambolic X Factor performance is also behind his decision to pull out.
