Robbie is back - so Take That!
By TIM NIXON and STUART PINK ROBBIE WILLIAMS snubbed the chance to rejoin TAKE THAT on their latest tour, fearing he'd be accused of exploiting the band's fame to boost his own career.
However the singer has revealed he WILL perform with the group again - following the release of his eagerly-awaited new album Reality Killed The Video Star in November.
Talking on CHRIS MOYLES' Radio 1 show this morning, Robbie said: "We'll see how it works out.
"I'm excited about it though. I'd like to do it - it would be fun.
"I'll just hold off a little bit and get my album out and then I'll go and play with my mates."
Robbie - who visited the show to play his new single Bodies - admitted he was tempted to jump onstage with GARY BARLOW and co recently but didn't want fans to think he was doing it to claw back some popularity after his flop 2006 offering Rudebox.
Speaking later in the morning with KEN BRUCE on Radio 2, the Angels singer described his relationship with the band as "absolutley fantastic".
He said: "We've managed to put to bed some horrible stuff and come out the other side as grown ups and there's just love there.
"So many bands can't do it, go into a room and say, 'I think this and I think that,' and say, 'Yeah I did that, I'm sorry, I won't do that again,' and we've done that."
Scared
The Angels star - who says he's willing to work with old songwriting pal GUY CHAMBERS again when they're both in the "right headspace" - also revealed his upcoming LP marks a major "turning point" in his career.
He told Moyles: "This next record decides my path.
"There's been a few great songs here and there, along the way, but you just forget.
"You forget what you've done - it's all in the past."
Understandably, Robbie admitted he was "a bit scared" about the response to the album - but urged fans who buy it and lose themselves in the uplifting tunes.
"I want them to dance, I want them to forget about who they are and where they are for 50 minutes," he said.
"And, within those 50 minutes of forgetting who they are, I also hope people relate to the songs."
Tracks featured on the 12-track collection - with a reprise of opening song Morning Sun at the end - include Bodies ("apocalyptic conspiracy-laced"), Starstruck (about "today's modern fame epidemic") and Won't Do That To You ("my very first love song").
Babies
Meanwhile, Robbie has opened up about his love life.
Loved-up ... Robbie and Ayda
Big Pictures
He told Radio 2 DJ Bruce "a new Robbie had emerged", adding that he no longer has "pent up sexual energy".
The singer's been dating girlfriend AYDA FIELD - who's given him the unusual nickname of "Tickles Anunu" - for three years which has mostly been spent "cuddling up on the sofa".
He added: "The missus likes football. She's got a frightening knowledge about football. She supports Manchester United.
Quirky Rob is so happy with Ayda, he wants to have three children with her - in one go.
He said: "I'd like to do that fertilising thing that you do, so that we can just knock like three out straight away.
"That would be the best deal."
Cruel
Speaking about the Take That documentary prior to their reunion - where Barlow, MARK OWEN, JASON ORANGE and HOWARD DONALD were all waiting in a room hoping their old pal would turn up - Robbie said: "I watched it and wished I had been there.
"I didn't know that would be the end of the documentary, I thought that was a bit cruel.
"The production people knew I wasn't going to be there."
Robbie - who describes himself as a "food ninja", favouring a strict diet over regular exercise - also spoke of his interest in UFOs.
He told Bruce: "There's a general misconception that 70 per cent of the population think it's odd.
"I've been going down that road to see if there's anything going on, if there's anything there - the further you go down the more charlatans there are and snake oil salesmen.
"The more you look into it the less you know. I am fascinated with all that stuff."
Robbie Williams' new album Reality Killed The Video Star is out on November 9.
His first single Bodies hits shelves on October 11.
