Jay Hunt, Controller of BBC One, revealed today at this year's autumn season launch – www.bbc.co.uk/bbconeautumn – that BBC Children in Need will stage a spectacular concert at the Royal Albert Hall put together by Gary Barlow, featuring Take That and a host of rock and pop's finest to launch the 2009 appeal week.

The full line-up of performers and ticket details will be revealed in the autumn.

All profits from the tickets and sales of recordings will go to BBC Children In Need.

"It's fantastic to be able to kick off BBC Children in Need 2009 in such a special way," said Gary Barlow.

"I've always wanted to do something like this and I can promise a night to remember, a night that will, I hope, play a small part in changing the lives of disadvantaged children across the UK."

Jay Hunt said: "This year the very best of British musicians, led by Gary Barlow, will stage a spectacular night at the Albert Hall in aid of BBC Children in Need.

"We're thrilled to be working with Gary Barlow on this brand new addition to the Children in Need programming for BBC One."

Children in Need CEO, David Ramsden, said: "We are so excited. It's going to be a brilliant night and will help us make a difference to lots of young lives."

In 2008, the BBC Children in Need Appeal raised more than £36million thanks to the generosity of the public and the enthusiasm of fundraisers, schools and businesses across the UK.

For every penny BBC Children in Need receives from the public, a penny will go to a project helping to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

Robbie hints at Take That reunion

Robbie Williams has given another clue that he could be about to sing again with his old band Take That.

When asked by Jonathon Ross about a potential comeback Robbie said: "We've got together, done bits and bobs. I can't say much, but yes, I hope so."

Robbie was in Take That when the band started back in 1990, but left to become a solo singer in 1995.

When Take That started singing again Robbie didn't join in, but now it seems he may be about to join the band again.

Some people think the original Take That line-up may all perform together for the first time in a decade at a big Children in Need concert on 12 November.
Take That are one of the big names involved in the gig, and other "big surprises" are set to be announced soon as well.

Back for good?

Because Robbie is being interviewed a lot about his new album at the moment, and has said he is friends with his former band-mates again, many people think he'll be singing with them soon.

Of course should that reunion take place the next question asked will be is Robbie Back For Good? (Sorry - too good a joke to resist!).

The superstar singer teams up with his former bandmates at a Children In Need gig, 14 years after he quit.

Rob’s walkout prompted a bitter feud with lead singer Gary Barlow, but now they can’t wait to perform together again.

And it means the original Take That line-up – Robbie, Gary, Mark Owen, 37, Jason Orange, 39, and Howard Donald, 41 – will belt out their hits on Thursday at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

A source said: “It’s the gig where Robbie finally gets back with Take That. They’re mates again, and doing it for charity
seems like the best way.”

And the reunion could be permanent after Rob, 35, unveiled a new Take That tattoo on Jonathan Ross’s chat show last night.

The gig, organised by Gary, 38, will also feature Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, Leona Lewis, all 24, Paul McCartney, 67, Snow Patrol and Muse.

The source added: “Everyone fears Rob will change his mind. But he feels it’s the right time.”

Robbie Williams performs on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross - but will join his old bandmates on stage next week

Robbie Williams will rejoin Take That on stage next week - 14 years after he quit the band.

The singer will perform with his former bandmates for Children in Need at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday.

Take That and Robbie are expected to top the bill for the one-off gig, which will also features perfomance by Snow Patrol, Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, Leona Lewis, Muse and Sir Paul McCartney.

A source said: 'It's the gig where Robbie finally gets back with Take That. They're mates again and doing it for charity seems like the best way.'

But fans will be desperate to blag a ticket for the sold-out show for their first performance together in more than a decade.

The 35-year-old walked out of Take That at the height of their fame in 1995 after a rift with lead singer Gary Barlow. The group went on to release another single without him but split the following year.

But their comeback as a foursome in 2006 has given the band even greater success.

There have been rumours that Robbie plans to permanently rejoin the band, since ending the feud with Gary in recent years and calling him 'my new best friend'.

Also adding fuel to the fire were reports that Mark Owen, 37, Gary Barlow, 38, Howard Donald, 41, and Jason Orange, 39, were spotted entering a New York recording studio at the same time as Robbie.

He recently had a Take That symbol tattooed on his right wrist.

The source told the Daily Star: 'Everyone fears Rob will change his mind. But he feels it's the right time.'

Take That are expected to perform several of their recent hits such as Rule The World and Patience, with Robbie joining them to sing Could It Be Magic, on which he sang lead vocals, and several of their older songs.

Last night Robbie, appearing on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, said that performing live had driven him to rehab in the past.

'I've always been very nervous [performing for] 80,000 people, it's an unnatural thing to do,' he said. 'You don't know what's going on in my head. It's traumatic, really scary.

'I ended up in rehab again. It was, 'What are you doing to yourself?' I thought it was time to break the cycle.

'I've taken the pressure off myself, it's a part-time gig these days. The missus keeps me grounded. There's no need to take myself out of my mind any more.'

He also talked of plans to have children with girlfriend Ayda Fields.

If that's not exciting enough, SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has also been handed a ticket to ride into the supergroup line-up too.

GARY BARLOW has spent months masterminding the Children In Need extravaganza, calling in favours from the great and the good of music.

I passed by the BBC's Maida Vale studios yesterday where the acts were rehearsing and happened to catch a glimpse of the line-up.

CHERYL COLE, DIZZEE RASCAL, LEONA LEWIS and SNOW PATROL are just some of the acts who will be performing together on the night.

I also clocked Gary Barlow when I was down there, dunking a digestive into a cup of tea like he'd spent the morning Artexing ceilings - not putting together a set list for a stellar line-up of talent.

He's a grafter that lad - and all the hard work is going to pay off.

The finale to the show is shaping up to be something spectacular.

Not only will the original Take That line-up - Gary, Robbie, MARK OWEN, HOWARD DONALD and JASON ORANGE - play together for the first time in almost 15 years but ex-BEATLE Sir Paul is teaming up too.

A source said: "The reunion is go. Robbie is utterly thrilled about it. He's been dreaming of performing with Take That again for years and now it's going to happen.

"Gary has spent months organising the event and is determined that it will be memorable. He's looking forward to singing with Rob again, but landing Paul McCartney is without doubt his biggest coup.

"They haven't decided what they are going to sing together, but something will take shape in rehearsals today."

Rob walked out on the boy band in 1995 and had no contact with bitter enemy Gary for the next decade.

But following 2005 documentary Take That: For The Record, the pair patched up their differences and have recently been writing together.

Not a bad week for Robbie then.

Reality Killed The Video Star is on course to be his ninth album chart-topper on Sunday.

It is beating JLS's self-titled debut effort by 5,000 so far, having shifted a whopping 85,000 copies.
