| Gary Barlow, Melanie C and John Bishop will be the headline performers an Olympic gala concert at The Royal Albert Hall to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics athletes.
The event, called ‘Our Greatest Team Rises’, is a celebration of Team GB and ParalympicsGB and will take place on Friday 11th May 2012 and will also feature Davina McCall, and Alfie Boe.
Take That star Barlow, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be involved with the event as it will play such a crucial role in providing our athletes with the best preparation, from training camps to medical and logistical support for the London 2012 Games. This is the moment for the entire nation to rise up and unite in its support for Our Greatest Team.”
The nation will also begin the countdown to the Games with a host of Cultural Olympiad events. Melanie C, former member of the Spice Girls, has been named Artist Chair for ‘Party to 2012’, the official series of events taking place in association with Team GB in this special Olympic year. She said: “This is a really exciting time for all British talent, be they athletes, musicians, comedians or performers. London 2012 represents a unique once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the entire nation to unite in support of Team GB and ParalympicsGB. We can all play our part to help to inspire our athletes to achieve something amazing this summer."

| As well as The X Factor judge, the line-up for the concert includes Alfie Boe, former
Davina McCall and John Bishop will host the show at the Royal Albert Hall on May 11th, the day after the Olympic flame is lit in Greece.
The event is designed to mark the formation of Team GB and Paralympics GB - the 900 athletes who will represent the country at the Games.
Barlow predicted the fundraiser would be a 'spectacular' occasion.
'I'm absolutely delighted to be involved with the event as it will play such a crucial role in providing our athletes with the best preparation, from training camps to medical and logistical support for the London 2012 Games,' he said.
'This is the moment for the entire nation to rise up and unite in its support for Our Greatest Team.'
Tickets for the exclusive event, which includes dinner prepared by Michelin-starred chef Simon Hulstone, start at £445.
