| ITV has confirmed that the winner of the current series of The X Factor will be crowned in a four-hour finale, split over Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11.
Following in the footsteps of past winners including Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Joe McElderry and last year's Matt Cardle, the winning act will be unveiled after performing what will go on to be their first official single release.
Kicking off at 8pm on Saturday, December 10, the remaining three acts will perform in front of 10,000 people at Wembley Arena - the first time X Factor has been staged outside of its home at Fountain Studios.
ITV has teased that viewers can expect "big surprises" as "some amazing international guest stars" will perform on stage.
On Sunday night, the final two-hour show will begin at 7.30pm. As well as featuring more guest performers, the two remaining finalists will sing what will become their winner's single, before the public's champion is announced.
Release details for the track have yet to be confirmed. Despite previous tradition of the song being released on the same night - entering the Christmas number one chart race - this year's festive chart-topper will not be announced until two weeks later on December 25.
2006 winner Lewis has told Digital Spy that she will be among the guests taking to the stage over the weekend.
The X Factor semi-final takes place this weekend as Amelia Lily, Little Mix, Marcus Collins and Misha Bryan compete for a place in the final.

| GARY Barlow has admitted that he dreads seeing the ratings for the X Factor every week.
The head judge said: "There's no question that every week when I'm waiting for the text with the ratings I'm s****ing myself.
"I want it to be great."
The Take That star also revealed to Grazia magazine that boss Simon Cowell warned him that he was in for a "rollercoaster" when he joined the hit ITV1 show.
Last weekend Strictly Come Dancing bagged more viewers on Saturday night than the singing show, but on Sunday X Factor took the lead against its BBC1 rival.
Gary added that he is desperate for Stevie Wonder to appear on the X Factor final to sing with his act Marcus Collins.
The 23-year-old Liverpudlian sang Stevie's song Lately on Saturday and Gary believes that a duet could make him a shoe-in to win.
He also auditioned for the competition with another classic by the soul legend — Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours).
Previous artists to have appeared on the X Factor final include Paul McCartney, Rihanna and Christina Aguilera.
Little Mix are now the bookies' favourite to win the competition, ahead of Marcus, Amelia Lily and Misha B, with odds of 6/5.

| GARY Barlow has stepped into Simon Cowell's high-heeled shoes with ease on this year's X Factor.
But the Take That star has revealed he's not exactly loving being on the show.
He's becoming increasingly fed-up with the constant scrutiny surrounding his every move.
Gary said: "The reason I'm not particularly enjoying it is I don't feel I'm in control of it.
"It's a totally new thing for me. I've got to get my head around it, learn to enjoy it."
Speaking to Esquire magazine – out on Monday – he said: "It's so intense. All those people out there watching every move you make and analysing it and talking to their friends about it and tweeting and gossiping."
Gary might be getting bored of The X Factor circus but he's not going to shy away from the spotlight altogether.
He said: "I recognise in me what I see in Elton John and all those people.
"We're chasing the buzz. It's a little drug. And I think once you've tasted it – especially once you've tasted it a number of times – you never want to lose it.
"It'll annoy my wife for years that, but there you go."
At least he can write a song for her to apologise.

| Gary Barlow has admitted that he is elated to have gotten his remaining act into the X Factor final next week.
The Take That star was visibly shocked when Marcus Collins was the second act revealed to be singing have made it to the live Wembley special, earlier this evening, and speaking afterwards on The Xtra Factor he insisted that it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
Gary told Caroline Flack and Olly Murs:
I’m really excited, I am so pleased for Marcus. I keep saying what a lovely guy he is every week, you’ve got no idea, he’s so gorgeous and so easy to work with. I’m so pleased for him getting to the final….made up!
On what unique qualities her thinks Collins will bring to next week’s live spectacular, Barlow added:
Marcus is an all round entertainer. He has got a great voice first and foremost but he’s a great mover, he looks amazing and I think anyone that watches him on screen can’t help but feel happy when they see him. I always look forward to seeing his performances.

Ooh, what's going on here then? The HMV website has just put a link up to Amelia Lily's winner's single and there are no Marcus or Little Mix versions to be seen. CONTROVERSIAL...
The link was being posted all over the place on Twitter, and was then quickly removed from the website. The mystery deepens...
It's not the first time that The X Factor has been at the centre of Fix Factor style allegations, and Amelia has recently been on the receiving end with people also wondering why she's given such a prominent role on the Marks and Spencer advert
She was already a controversial contestant, after coming back following her early exit at the hands of her mentor Kelly Rowland.
STV apologised after X Factor fans thought their website had published a story saying Amelia had been voted back in an hour before it actually happened.
A spokesperson for HMV said: “It’s just come to light that there was a technical issue uploading details of two of the artists to our site, which meant that only Amelia Lily’s details appeared.
"However, these have been temporarily removed so that all three finalists details will go up simultaneously tomorrow morning.
"Once up, fans will be able to pre-order the single by their preferred finalist but only orders for the eventual winner’s single will be processed and charged for.
"This was due to an unforeseen technical issue, and nothing further should be construed from it.”
So it was an innocent mistake? We have to stop shouting FIX FIX FIX at our tellies? We'll be honest, we were enjoying ourselves.

GARY BARLOW has fuelled rumours that he'll quit the show - by revealing he can't wait for Monday morning and the "stress" to end.
The X Factor judge, whose act Marcus Collins is in the final, said: "There have been a few shocks for me being involved in the show. There have been some horrible weeks and it has been hard work. It is the constant, the bubble we are in.
"This show doesn't end on a Sunday night, it follows you around all week long. Everyone has got an opinion, you can never say the right thing. It is one of those shows under scrutiny and when you are in the middle of it all, it is quite tough.
"The great thing for me is I have got an act in the final, but in another way I am really looking forward to Monday morning."
The Take That star, 40, said that all three finalists will get contracts and he could be upstaged by Marcus when the pair sing Billy Joel's She's Always A Woman.
"The great thing about the three acts is they are completely different," he said. "I believe they will all get record deals. I think the right three people got through.
"Marcus has got an old-school vocal. The type of album I would see him making is an Alicia Keys or John Legend-type record. It's an area never covered before by X Factor. He is a unique artist and I really believe he can make a great album next year."
