| Simon Cowell has confessed that he will most likely invite his old pal Louis Walsh to return to judge on this year’s series of The X Factor.
The music mogul recently returned to the UK, to film the auditions for the 2012 series of Britain’s Got Talent, but of course what the press really wanted to know is who will be back and who will be sacked on the ITV singing show.
The TV boss revealed that he would find it difficult to drop Louis from he lineup, but Take That’s Gary’s future does not look quite so secure.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Simon – who missed the entire series of X Factor UK last year as he concentrated on his US version – explained:
“There will be some changes. It would be difficult [not to have Louis on the show].”
When asked specifically about the fate of Barlow, Cowell added:
“Some people loved Gary, some people didn’t.”
Gary is currently working with last year’s runner up Marcus Collins on his debut album, which will be released in March.
It has recently been claimed that new judge Kelly Rowland won’t be back for 2012 either, having become disillusioned with the press ‘circus’ that surrounds the show.
However Tulisa Contostavlos is hoping she will be back and is desperate for a second chance, after her act Little Mix won last month.

| X Factor runner up Marcus Collins has revealed that his former mentor on the show, Gary Barlow, “definitely” wants to return this year.
According to the Daily Mail, Marcus let slip that the Take That star is hoping to be back again in the summer.
ITV are said to be “desperate” to keep the singer and songwriter, although show boss Simon Cowell is understood to be less keen.
But a source told the newspaper: “Gary wasn’t perfect last year but who else is there? Only Paul McCartney, Elton and Noel Gallagher have more gravitas.”
The X Factor UK panel is expected to be confirmed next month, with the show returning to screens in August.

| GARY Barlow has confessed he has been in secret talks for more than two months about an X Factor return — as ITV sources say he WILL be back.
The Take That star confirmed he had entered into discussions about a new contract before the December final of series eight.
He said: "I started talks two weeks before the last one finished. We are talking."
Show bosses are believed to be figuring out a way he can work on a new Take That album — and potential tour — and be free for the show. They have been cheered by the fact he managed to tour with his band and judge auditions for last year's show.
They are also understood to be dangling a PAY RISE under his nose — last year he was the highest paid judge on £1.5million.
News of the backroom talks has led sources close to the show to conclude he'll be back. One said: "Gary loved being on the show and genuinely wants to be back.
"While viewing figures were down a few million, the feeling is it would have been worse without Gary."
Simon Cowell admitted recently he was concerned Gary's Take That commitments would get in the way and even suggested he "hasn't decided" if he wants him back.

| Simon Cowell could be bringing in Estelle for the new series of The X Factor, according to reports.
The R&B singer would replace Kelly Rowland, who wants to focus on her career in the US, The Sun said.
A source said of the American Boy singer: "Estelle's name is very high on his list now and serious enquiries have been made as for her availability for auditions in May."
Former judges Gary Barlow, who is set to become a father for the fourth time, and Tulisa Contostavlos, who won last year's series with Little Mix, have been offered pay rises to return to the ITV1 show, with Louis Walsh.
British singer Estelle rose to fame in 2008 with American Boy, her collaboration with rapper Kanye West.
Last year's X Factor suffered in the ratings battle with Strictly Come Dancing.

| So much for undiscovered! X Factor judge Gary Barlow reveals the talent show will welcome singers with managers
It was supposed to be the ultimate chance for an unknown talent to be discovered and secure a life-changing record deal.
But in a dramatic U-turn, The X Factor is changing its rules so that acts who already have managers can compete.
The move, which will raise concerns that the show is no longer a genuine search for an undiscovered star, was let slip by judge Gary Barlow in an interview on Radio 2.
He told Chris Evans: ‘They’re letting people apply that already have managers.
‘They are hoping for a more developed artist and a more developed group, if they have management.’
In past years, contestants have been barred from the ITV1 show if they had an existing management deal.
Barlow is still in negotiations about whether he will return to his role as lead judge. ITV is reported to have offered him £2million to stay.
His revelations will raise questions about the fairness of the programme, as acts with managers are likely to be more polished than genuinely ‘undiscovered’ artists.
The move comes after last year’s show suffered lacklustre ratings.
X Factor bosses confirmed that anyone aged 16 and above can enter, whether they are ‘an amateur artist, have had a management deal in the past or have one now’.

| X FACTOR bosses are changing the rules to allow acts with managers to audition.
In the past, hopefuls were barred from entering the ITV1 show if they already had representation.
But judge Gary Barlow – who is still in talks to return to the show – let slip that the competition will be open to all.
He said on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show yesterday: "They're letting people apply who already have managers. They're hoping for a more developed artist, more developed group, if they have management."
Show bosses confirmed anyone aged 16 and over can enter, whether they are "an amateur artist, have had a management deal in the past or have one now".
Thames TV chief Richard Holloway said: "The change means we won't miss out on any talent."
Auditions with producers begin next weekend in Liverpool as the process swings into action once more.
Auditions will also take place in Manchester, Cardiff, Glasgow, London and Newcastle.
Wannabes can also make video applications.

| X Factor judge Louis Walsh has made it clear that he doubts Kelly Rowland will be back on the show this year.
Speaking on Irish chat show Craig Doyle Live, Louis revealed he expected both Tulisa and Gary Barlow to return, and seemingly confirmed that Dermot O’Leary would also “definitely” be back.
“I think I’ll be back, I think Gary will be back. I think Tulisa will be back. Dermot’s definitely back!” Louis said. “I’m not sure about Kelly. I’m not sure.”
But Louis made it clear that no final decisions on this year’s line up at yet been made.
He added: “No-one is contracted guys.”
Former judge Cheryl Cole previously denied rumours linking her to a return to the show, while tabloid reports have suggested that Estelle is being lined up to replace Kelly.
However a spokesperson for The X Factor branded the rumours “pure speculation”, adding: “No decisions on the panel have been made yet.”
Open auditions for The X Factor 2012 UK kick off in Liverpool this weekend, with the show returning to ITV1 in the summer.

| X Factor star Gary Barlow is reportedly angry after Simon Cowell branded him “boring”.
The music mogul is quoted in a new book as saying he wanted to fire the Take That star when he started on the show last year.
According to author Tom Bower, Simon felt that Gary was “boring” and “stiff” on the show.
“Gary is obviously mortified by this. It’s bad enough to be told in private that you’re not doing a good job, but for it to be all so public is horrendous,” a supposed source told Star magazine this week.
They added: “Gary is furious that this has been allowed to happen.
“He feels it has belittled his reputation.”
Gary however has been the first – and as yet only – judge to be announced as returning to the series this year.
Simon is quoted as saying: “At first Gary appeared to be a bit stiff. I was nervous about the panel in full stop at first.”
But despite the comments, it’s widely expected (seeing as they’ve said it themselves…) that Gary will be joined once again by Tulisa and Louis Walsh this summer.
Only Kelly Rowland’s position on the show is in doubt, with the US star still in talks ahead of auditions next month.
