Preperations are well underway at Sunderland AFC's Stadium of Light for the launch of 'The Circus Live,' Take That's national tour. The Circus Live tour, named after the band's latest album, will see the four band members take to the stage for 20 stadium shows across the UK throughout June and July. The tour includes a five-night residency at their hometown, Manchester and concludes at Wembley, and after negotiations, Sunderland was chosen to host the opening performances.
Take That will be performing on Friday June 5 and Saturday June 6 at the Stadium of Light. Preparations for the city and its infrastructure to support the huge number of visitors began in September of last year, as these will be the largest concerts ever held in the North East.
Take That last toured in 2007 with their Beautiful World tour which sold over 370,000 tickets in less than two hours. Tickets for The Circus Tour sold out in record time. Within less than five hours, more than 600,000 tickets were sold for the five concert venues, smashing all UK Box Office records to date, including those held for over 20 years by Michael Jackson for his Bad tour in 1987. The UK & Ireland tour has now sold over an amazing 1 Million tickets
Liam Boylan, from SJM Concerts, said: "The Circus Live tour really is the greatest show on earth. Even the tour trucks are fully branded so everywhere we go, people will know that the Circus is in town. It will make an amazing impact."
Smash hit songs from The Circus album which will be performed include; 'Greatest Day', 'How Did It Come To This' and 'What Is Love' alongside other Take That songs, old and new.

Take That is now a four piece consisting of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange. All are primarily vocalists, although they each have some instrumental talent or song-writing capability.
They saw major success in the early to mid 1990s as a five piece boyband, and then reformed in the mid 2000s without former band member, Robbie Williams.
The band formed in Manchester in 1989. Take That's pop songs and ballads dominated the UK charts during the first half of the 1990s as they sold more than 19 million records between 1991 and 1996.
During this time they produced two of the best selling albums of the decade, with 'Everything Changes' and their 'Greatest Hits' album.
Following the release of their Greatest Hits album in 1996 Take That split up, but reformed following a 2005 documentary.
A new greatest hits album was released and a reunion tour called 'The Ultimate Tour' was announced in 2006. Later that year they recorded their first studio album in over 10 years, 'Beautiful World'. 'The Circus' is Take That's second post-reunion album.
Outside of Take That, Gary Barlow has recorded two albums, and even had two number one solo singles. He has also written and produced hit records for the likes of Atomic Kitten and Blue. In February, Gary and eight other celebrities climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Comic Relief.
Howard Donald has had a successful DJ career outside of Take That, performing mainly in the UK and Germany. He is also co-owner of production company Sonic Fly.
Jason Orange is a known actor outside of the band, even featuring in Lynda La Plante's, Killer Net. Mark Owen has released three solo albums outside of Take That, and has toured the UK, Europe and Japan. He also won Celebrity Big Brother in 2002.
