Stephen Gately's husband has revealed he will always be haunted by the moment he told Ronan Keating: "Steo's dead." In an emotional interview Andy Cowles told how a desperate Ronan rang him in Majorca hours after the Boyzone singer's death.
He said: "Ronan was just begging me to tell him it wasn't true."
Andy opened his heart about Stephen as part of a tribute to be screened on ITV next Sunday.
Stars including Robbie Williams, Girl's Aloud's Nadine Coyle, Westlife's Nicky Byrne and ice-skating legends Torvill and Dean will all share their memories of Stephen.
Andy, 32, told how he still forgets Stephen - called "Steo" by pals - is gone. He said: "I find myself thinking, 'Ooh, I should tell Stephen this'.
"Then you realise you can't ever speak to your best friend again." Stephen died in October last year.
