| This year’s X Factor has already attracted performances from the likes of Taylor Swift, Ne Yo and former winner of the TV talent contest Leona Lewis, and tonight the star of the show was Robbie Williams.
The former Take That star belted out a rendition of his new single Candy, and what a performance it was!
Sitting on a throne surrounded by flying men playing instruments, it was clear to see why the singer is so popular as he brightened up the stage and kept the judges and the audience entertained, even giving flamboyant singer Rylan a name check during his outlandish performance.
As balloons started falling from the sky with paper confetti blowing everywhere, Robbie earned himself a huge cheer and a standing ovation from the judges, who couldn’t keep the grins off their faces, especially when the singer gave Louis Walsh an impromptu lap dance!
Speaking to Dermot O’Leary after his performance, Robbie couldn’t help but mention Gary Barlow’s dislike of Rylan, saying: “It’s all love but he’s been a bit serious with Rylan. I love Rylan, show him some love Gaz!”
Robbie has been mentoring the X Factor contestants this week and has reportedly spent a lot of time with Rylan, mentioning his love of the singer on his official website, which led to Gary Barlow joking that the pair had fallen out over the controversial contestant.
“Twenty years knowing each other, we did a single together, and it’s all over,” Gary joked after Robbie pledged his support to Rylan on his official website. “”In five letters, it’s all over.”
The rivalry between Gary and Robbie is well known, with the pair falling out way back in 1995 due to irreconcilable differences when Robbie left Take That at the height of their success to pursue a solo career.
The singer has gone on to have worldwide success as a solo artist and has sold over 70 million albums worldwide and becoming the best-selling British solo artist in the UK.
Robbie has also won 17 BRIT Awards and was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004 after being voted as the greatest artist of the 1990s.
Gary and Robbie put their differences aside and became friends when Robbie rejoined Take That in 2010, and the album they released in November 2010 became the fastest selling album in UK chart history and the fastest-selling record of the century so far.
Robbie’ has gone back to performing as a solo artists, and his new single Candy is available to buy or download now, with his new album Take the Crown due for release on November 5.

| The Candy singer ruffled Gary Barlow's feathers when he backed the camp wannabe for great things on the show last week.
And Rylan is hoping he can cash in on their new-found friendship, revealing he'd be willing to team up with Gary, Robbie and the rest of the band if it doesn't work out for him on the ITV show.
He's even set his sights on a duet with the Let Me Entertain You hitmaker.
Speaking at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women Of The Year Awards 2012 with VO5 in London last night, he told Metro: 'I may be in touch with Robbie at some point. I’d love to do a track with him. I think it would be amazing. I'd be happy to support Take That on tour even.'

The Essex model was also keen to assure fans that he and over 28s mentor Gary are good pals behind the scenes.
'I get on well with him off stage, he’s a lovely guy,' Rylan explained.
'I like the banter I’ve got with Gary I look forward to it as much as I think everyone else does.'
But it's married dad-of-one Robbie who Rylan has a real soft spot for.

| X Factor contestant Rylan Clark has revealed that his ideal man is Robbie Williams and he said that he wants to run away with him.
During a photoshoot with Now magazine Rylan also confessed that he used to take boxing lessons when he was younger and "can fight if someone starts" on him.
He said: “At school, a boy bullied me for three years.
“One day, I knocked him flat out. No-one said anything to me again. But fighting isn't the answer.”
Though X Factor judge Gary Barlow is not a fan of Rylan, his former Take That bandmate Robbie thinks he’s great.
Rylan explained: “Robbie said to me, 'You don't realise - I want you in my life one way or the other'.
"I was like, 'Godparent?' And he said, 'Sorted'. I said, 'If it doesn't work out with [Robbie's wife] Ayda [Field], you and me will run away together'. And he said, 'I'm bang up for that'. So watch this space!"
However, Clark has suggested that his on-air feud with Barlow is only for show.
he explained: "On stage he's Borelow, but off stage we get on really well.
"I call him Banter Barlow. I love Gary and have so much respect for him... I think he's got a soft spot for me.
"He's a genuine bloke. If I get the chance to release a single, he's got to be involved. I might get him to write it - or star in the video."
