Take That are planning to Rule The World once again – after announcing plans for what is set to be a record-breaking stadium tour in the summer. The manband forged in Manchester will undertake their biggest tour yet as Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and newly returned Robbie Williams for the first time together since 1995.
The 20 date tour, including four nights at the City Of Manchester Stadium on June 3, 4, 5 and 7, goes on sale on Friday at 9am, with tickets expected to sell out in minutes.
In a press conference yesterday, the lads revealed they hope to follow up last year’s spectacular Circus Live tour with an even bigger ‘feast for the imagination’ with the new Progress Live tour, named after their upcoming album.
And Jason, speaking to The Diary straight afterwards, said the band are now working well as a fivesome. He said: “We’re all very excited, it’s been brilliant to have Robbie back for lots of reasons. It’s great to have him back on board.
“For the first time we’ve all been working together creatively – we didn’t do it like that in the 90s, but now the five of us are working together and having a lot of fun, and the creative juices are flowing.”
Crumpsall-born Jason, who still lives in Manchester, says Robbie can’t wait to start learning dance routines and get back into the swing of Take That tours, although 40-year-old Jason reckons their dancing might not be quite as ‘fast and frantic’ as it once was.
He laughed: “We know we have to make the production more spectacular because of our waning dance skills. We can’t do as many spins on our head, so we wheel an elephant out instead!
“We’ve always been ambitious in our show production, and we’ve always managed to top our previous shows. Having Robbie back, well, that’s already topped it.”
Needless to say, the homecoming gigs are always special for the lads.
Jason said: “Manchester is going to be a special gig. Every city has a special memory, but you can’t beat Manchester because it’s where we are from.”
