Pete Conway, 65, said chronic panic attacks that plagued Robbie on his last solo tour will not return when he is on stage with his old band.

Robbie had to cancel dates on his 2006 Close Encounters tour because of stage fright.

And during his X Factor performance last year he seemed extremely nervous and missed lyrics. But Pete said: "With the boys there the stage fright won't be an issue.

"I know he suffered from that earlier on. But he'll have all that support of his band of brothers. It's so wonderful that he has joined Take That again.

"It will be a solid and nice year for him. He'll have fun and will have genuine friends around him for support. It can get a bit lonely on your own."

Pete, a former club singer in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, insisted Robbie will be better behaved during next year's tour than in his early days with Take That.

He said: "They are all married and Rob has a girlfriend. They're more mature. It won't get as wild as it used to."

GARY BARLOW and the lads have agreed to ban booze backstage when they hit the road next year.

The finest manband in the land have a lot to celebrate - a new album, an epic 54-date tour and the prospect of a Ј15million pay day each to come.

But the hell-raising and high jinks are behind them.

MARK OWEN has been battling his drink demons since March after confessing to ten drunken affairs. And the returning ROBBIE WILLIAMS has been on the wagon for years after spells in rehab.

A source said: "The boys have had time together over the last week working on the new video.

"They have had a chance to sit down and discuss plans for next year. It's a sensitive subject but booze will be off limits for the band and the crew.

"The Circus Tour was one giant party and, for Mark and Robbie's sake, that just won't work this time round."

It's a sensible decision and shows how much the boys have matured. When I interviewed Mark earlier this year he said he used to hit the bottle after every show.

Even Robbie's old man PETE CONWAY has talked about how different their antics will be this time around.

He said: "They are all married now and Rob has a girlfriend so it's different from when they were teenagers.

"They have different stuff going on in their lives. It won't get as wild as it used to."

I guarantee it won't stop the lads having a great laugh.

I had a well-oiled smash-up of a time on the road following them to Scotland, Sunderland and Wemberlee last year.

I'll just have to sneak my Tennent's lager into the grounds in a long coat.

The booze might not be flowing but Robbie is still filling his boots at the moment.

As well as the Take That tour and new album - and his own Greatest Hits Collection due out - he's also releasing a Wii game.

This isn't one of those half-hearted, 'show us the money' reunions either. There will be a new album, produced by Madonna right-hand man Stuart Price.

And a world tour, which may well see Robbie Williams returning to Ireland for the first time since he got stuck in a levitating gondola above Croke Park and offered to make amends by putting on another concert for free (we're around next weekend if you are, Rob).

So off the scale are the levels of chumminess between the newly reunited band-mates that Williams and Take That songwriter Gary Barlow are even to star in a 'hilarious' video inspired by gay cowboy movie Brokeback Mountain (the comic potential for repressed homosexuality and saddle burn being endless, of course).

"I get embarrassingly excited when the five of us are in a room," said Williams, announcing that he and Barlow had recorded a new song, 'Shame', for his forthcoming greatest hits. "It feels like coming home."

Oddly, Barlow hasn't been available for comment. However, the rest of Take That sound spectacularly chuffed.

"Getting the five of us to be in a room together, although always a dream, never actually seemed like becoming a reality," said Mark Owen, whose admission of serial infidelity had seen him assume Robbie's bad-boy mantle in the line-up.

"Now the reality of the five of us making a record together feels like a dream. It's been an absolute delight spending time with Rob again. But I'm still a better footballer."

Band reunions are no big deal nowadays, of course. From Spandau Ballet to The Cranberries, Pixies to Stone Temple Pilots, everyone's at it. You half-expect The Beatles to announce they're going back on the road with animatronic dolls filling in for John and George ("Elvis" recently played The O2 in the form of a 10-metre high video projection so it's not as absurd as it sounds).

On the other hand, few bust-ups were as bitter and enduring as that between Robbie and Take That. As recently as 2006 Williams was gleefully firing fusillades at Barlow via his Rudebox LP (in one lyric he called the singer a c**k).

For their part, the rest of Take That spent years stewing in obscurity as Williams became the biggest pop star in Europe.

With the tables turned -- Williams' last two records have been tremendous flops -- it would be only human for them to savour his downfall.

The first steps towards rapprochement are believed to have occurred early last year after Barlow visited Williams at his home in Los Angeles, where it appears he spent much of the day scouring the horizon for UFOs.

"We had a great chat. He's really well and we're good buds again," Barlow said in March. "It was the best meet-up we've had since 1996."

Surprisingly, the announcement hasn't been met with the same emotional outpourings that marked Robbie's original departure from the group, when he'd made it perfectly clear he'd rather hang around with Oasis and take drugs than don a skimpy devil costume and camp it up with Lulu.

In fact, it wouldn't be too much of an exaggeration to say the response has been greeted with a yawning silence. Could it be that Take That fans would rather Robbie stayed away?

"To be honest, the news has been receiving quite a mixed response from the fans," says Jolene Prendergast, who helps run the Irish Take That Fans website.

"Of course, there are some that absolutely love the idea of the original Take That reformed and complete, while others are concerned that it will change the dynamic that the other four have spent the past five years attaining."

The fear is that, just as before, Robbie's ego will eventually be too much to contain.

"There aren't many fans that are completely against it, but I think the majority are just worried that Robbie will find it difficult to become part of a band again, having been used to being the centre of attention for so long in his own solo career," says Prendergast.

"There is no denying that he is a big personality. Is it possible that he could destroy the fine balance the others have built on?"

Of course, there is another explanation for the muted response. Many of today's teenagers weren't even born when Robbie originally quit Take That. What do they care what some sweaty old dude with funny eyebrows and a crazy smirk gets up to?

"I've just done some maths though, and TT broke up in 1996, 14 years ago," says Sarah Breen, editor of teen magazine Kiss.

"So considering the average age of our reader is 14/15/16, most of them didn't know Robbie was ever in the band."

Breen has more vivid recollections of Williams' walk-out.

"I remember girls in my year calling a special hotline for grief counselling and walking around the school corridors wailing. As an Oasis fan, I was mortified that Robbie chose the Gallagher brothers to hang around with after his departure."

Still, there's no doubt but that, with Robbie on board, Take That stand to make a killing. On their own, Williams and Take That both filled Croke Park. When they tour together, the GAA might have to tack another tier on to the Hogan Stand in order to accommodate the attendance.

That said, just because a huge payday beckons doesn't mean old rivalries won't bob to the surface. Though band reunions are lucrative, not all is successful. Some musicians can't leave the past behind.

Take That fans must hope the only occasion Barlow and Williams end up tumbling around in the scrub slapping one another is while shooting that Brokeback Mountain video.

"There is no denying that the boys have spent quite a bit of time together in the past year or so," says Jolene Prendergast. "They have definitely ironed out a lot of the difficulties there were between the five of them, and predominantly between Gary and Robbie.

"The main consensus of the wary fans now is to be tentative and to trust the other four's judgement of how this will go. They have a huge amount to lose if it does go wrong," she adds.

He is organising a lads' bonding holiday in the sun next month, ahead of the release of new TT album The Flood and their mega tour.

Teetotal Rob, 36, has invited his Take That bandmates to his home in LA and is planning a jaunt from there to Vegas to check out the shows in preparation for their reunion tour next year.

But unlike their road trips of the past, girls, drugs and booze are banned.

Their other halves will be pleased, especially Mark Owen's missus Emma. Pals say she is desperately trying to trust him again after he sought treat-ment for his numerous affairs. A source tells us: "When Gary, Mark, Howard and Jason got back together in 2006 they went on a road trip from LA to Vegas to get into the swing of being in a group again.

"They had an absolute ball - it was that kind of thing Robbie felt he has missed out on.

"Going to Vegas is like a pilgrimage for them. In the past Gary has insisted they go there to get ideas for the tour. It's easy to disappear, away from prying eyes, work on ideas and chill out.

"So when Robbie suggested a lads' holiday, one of his ideas was Vegas.

"They have all met up on nights out.

But a bonding holiday will help prepare them for being in each other's company day in and day out, like they will be on tour. Vegas is perfect - it's not far from Rob's place in LA or the studio where they can rehearse. And it'll give them time to come up with ideas for the tour. They have a skeleton idea of what they want to do, but things change all the time.

"It will be a working holiday so the girls generally don't go along with them.

"It will be tough on Mark and Emma, but they have to get used to trusting each other again. It is his job to be away so much, unfortunately."

The album shoot is being meticulously plotted ahead of its release in November but they want it to be a total surprise. ‘They are hell-bent on doing something different now the dynamic has changed again with Robbie home,’ added the insider.

The fellas are getting dynamic in the gym too ahead of speculation they will tour next year with Williams. ‘Gary, Mark, Jason and Howard proved with their dance moves they are in fine shape after the Circus tour so they know they have to keep everyone impressed.

They’re going to have to take everything up a notch again now Robbie is back’, said the mole. ‘While the boys are used to the heavy workouts, it has been a couple of years for Robbie so he’s struggling to keep up.’

The lads announced last week that Robbie would join them for the first time in 15 years, having penned a new album with him. Williams, 36, is also releasing his own greatest hits album, In and Out of Consciousness, before the return. He will also sing a duet with Barlow on their new single, Shame, which is out on October 4.

Boyzone star Shane Lynch - who reunited with his group in 2007 after an eight-year hiatus - insists Robbie will realise what he has been missing since he quit the band in 1995 and will appreciate the friendships he has in the group.

Speaking at the UK premiere of new action film 'Knight and Day' at London's Odeon Leicester Square last night (22.07.10), he told BANG Showbiz: "I remember what it's like not to have the boys and if Robbie can get them back in his life it will benefit him as a human being. Not from a business point of view but as a human being. You've grown up with these guys from a very young age - it's a very impressionable age.

"You experience the highs and the lows of your career together and then when you spend so much time again it's hard. When you get back together again, you really realise how much you miss your bandmates and how much you love them. It's a great security blanket and he'll experience it all. When you're younger you don't realise how important it is."

Take That - Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald - recently announced they would be reuniting with Robbie for the first time in 15 years with a 52-date tour, and their boy band competitors are also planning to hit the road in 2011.

Shane revealed: "We're planning to tour again next year, and then hit the studio straight after to start on the next album. It's what we love to do."
