Star struck

According to the Sun , Robbie Williams will be "sensationally reunited" with his old band Take That on a charity single in aid of Haiti disaster relief.

The paper notes that he last recorded with his erstwhile bandmates in 1995.

Not to be outdone, rival red-top the Daily Mirror has a showbusiness-meets-charity story all of its own.

It splashes on Simon Cowell praising the efforts of seven-year-old Charlie Simpson, whose charity cycle ride for Haiti raised £160,000 in two days.

Robbie Williams is set to be reunited with Take That for a charity single to help victims of the Haiti earthquake.

The 35-year-old singer is to record with his former band mates for the first time since he quit the group in 1995 after signing up for The Sun's Helping Haiti single.

Williams said he was honoured to be asked to contribute to the cover version of REM's ballad Everybody Hurts.

The track will feature a star-studded line-up with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Leona Lewis, JLS, James Blunt, Cheryl Cole and Joe McElderry taking part.

Williams told The Sun: "I'm very honoured to be asked to contribute to the single. We can all do something to help the people of Haiti - and I urge everyone to do what they can."

Williams and Take That are set to take part in a recording session in Los Angeles but it is not known whether they will record their vocals together, or separately and have their voices mixed later.

Speculation about a reunion between Williams and former band mates Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange was fuelled by their appearance together on stage for the Children In Need gig at London's Albert Hall last November.

Pop and TV mogul Simon Cowell teamed up with the newspaper to mastermind the fund-raising effort, which should see the single released later this month.

Proceeds are to be split between the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and the Sun's Helping Haiti campaign. REM will forgo royalties and the Government said VAT on the record will be waived to maximise revenues.

Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, Miley Cyrus, Alexandra Burke, Susan Boyle, Michael Buble, James Morrison and Mika are also among those performing.

ROBBIE Williams is to be sensationally reunited with Take That - on The Sun's Helping Haiti charity single.

Robbie, 35, last recorded with them in 1995.

Confirming his participation, he told The Sun he was "honoured" and urged fans to keep helping stricken Haiti.

He issued the plea as it was announced pop princess Kylie Minogue has also joined the star-studded line-up for the cover version of REM's ballad Everybody Hurts - organised to aid the earthquake-battered nation.

Recording on the track is well under way, with artists including JLS, Leona Lewis, James Blunt and X Factor chums Cheryl Cole and Joe McElderry already adding their lines in the studio.

And Robbie told The Sun: "I'm very honoured to be asked to contribute to the single.

"We can all do something to help the people of Haiti - and I urge everyone to do what they can."

Robbie will be performing on his first track alongside his old band since he walked out in 1995.

The lads are set to record their vocals for the charity single in Los Angeles today.

It is hoped they will team up in the studio, but they may record separately and have their voices mixed together later.

Rumours have been rife for months of a reunion between Robbie and pals Gary Barlow, 39 Mark Owen, 38, Howard Donald, 41, and Jason Orange, 39.

Now the desperate plight of Haiti has finally put his voice on a record with his former band.

Producer John Shanks, who was behind Take That's two smash-hit comeback albums, is recording the boys' contributions in the US.

X Factor chief Simon Cowell is masterminding the single and has pulled in an incredible line-up.

Mariah Carey, 39, Rod Stewart, 65, and Miley Cyrus, 17, are all performing.

Alexandra Burke, 21, Britain's Got Talent's Susan Boyle, 48, Canadian crooner Michael Buble, 34, James Morrison, 25, and Mika, 26, are also taking part.

Fellow Take That producer Steve Robson is behind the desk at West London's SARM studios.

Yesterday Blunt, Westlife's Mark Feehily and X Factor's Joe and Alexandra recorded their lines.

Bleeding Love star Leona said she longed to fly to Haiti to aid victims - but realised she could help more by joining The Sun's single.

Leona, 24, said: "I want to go over there so badly.

But I think the best way to help is by doing things like this."

Fifty per cent of proceeds from the single will go to our Helping Haiti fund. The rest will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee.

Kylie and Robbie Williams have been added to Simon Cowell's Haiti charity single.

The pair are the latest names to join the star-studded line-up, which already boasts Mariah Carey, Cheryl Cole, Take That, Miley Cyrus and Leona Lewis, among others.

Speaking about taking part in the single - which is a cover version of REM's 'Everybody Hurts' - Williams said: "I'm very honoured to be asked to contribute to the single.

"We can all do something to help the people of Haiti - and I urge everyone to do what they can."

Ради гаитян Робби Уильямс споет со своей бывшей группой Take That

Helping Haiti.

Everybody Hurts at BRITs

Simon Cowell's charity single will be performed at the BRITs.

The music mogul's all-star cover of REM's hit 'Everybody Hurts' - which is being released to raise funds for earthquake-stricken Haiti - will now take centre stage at the music awards 30th anniversary ceremony on February 16, after bosses reorganised the evening's line-up to clear a space for the song.

A source said: "A special production meeting was called to reconsider the running order to include the song. It's something that has never happened before. But the events in Haiti have made everybody sit up and take notice."

The news comes at the same time as Bon Jovi have confirmed they are adding their talents to the record.

The rock band - consisting of singer Jon Bon Jovi, guitarist Richie Sambora, drummer Tico Torres, bassist Hugh McDonald and keyboardist David Bryan - will join some of the world's biggest stars to appear on the single.

The female line-up of performers for the song includes Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue, Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole, Alexandra Burke, Susan Boyle and Miley Cyrus.

The girls are joined on the track by Robbie Williams, Take That, Rod Stewart, James Blunt, James Morrison, Joe McElderry, Mika, Michael Buble and boy bands Westlife and JLS.

The song will be the first time 'Bodies' hitmaker Robbie has featured on the same record as his old band Take That since he left the group in 1995.

At the moment, it is unclear whether the musicians will all be present to perform together at the BRITs, or if a video will be aired instead.

The artists have been recording their parts at different venues around the world and their musical contributions are all being edited into one track.

The single is due for release on February 8.

We've been to some important events in our time, but witnessing Take That make history has to be up there with the best of them.

Standing next to the boys, with our headphones in our hands, we watched them lay down their vocals for Simon Cowell's Haiti fundraising single.

And cosying up to us at the Henson Studios in LA, where they were recording their chunk of REM's Everybody Hurts, they said they were "privileged" to be taking part.

Gary Barlow told us: "As soon as we heard, we were just hoping we'd be asked. It's one of those things you don't even have to think about.

"We've never done anything like this before, but music has been a great way of generating money for good causes."

We were mesmerised by the boys as they lent their vocals to the A-list roster which includes Kylie Minogue, Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole, James Blunt, Mika, Susan Boyle, Bon Jovi, Miley Cyrus, Alexandra Burke, JLS, James Morrison, Rod Stewart, Westlife and Michael Buble.

But it wasn't the lure of the megastars that made Take That sign up.

Jason Orange said: "It's not about, 'I rubbed shoulders with them', except most of them are better singers than us! It's just great people are coming together for something so important."

He went on to urge 3am readers to support the single and help raise funds for the relief effort.

"Be a part of history and help out with this terrible tragedy," he said.

"Buy the record, buy several copies."

Sadly, scheduling conflicts prevented the lads from recording at the same time as their former bandmate Robbie Williams.

Robbie recorded his lines last night at the same studios with producer John Shanks, 24 hours after his old pals.

The foursome admit they were all choked by images of the earthquake's aftermath, which left over 150,000 people dead and millions more injured.

Mark said: "I've seen pictures on TV, and they're already trying to find their way through it. They're singing, and there seems to be so much hope. They've started the hope, we're just following on from it."

Meanwhile, back in Blighty we also joined forces with Susan Boyle and Rod Stewart as they recorded their parts for the Hope for Haiti track. SuBo was especially excited at the prospect of meeting her hero, fellow Scot Rod Stewart.

She gushed: "Rod is someone who I would love to meet.

"He's from Scotland like I am, and he's got cavort a fabulous voice." She even had her hair done especially for the occasion - but sadly got cold feet when she found out Rod was near.

As soon as she heard he was about to walk into the studio, she got a little flustered, did a moonwalk and ran right out of the back door.

When Rod came in, he bounded over to us and asked: "Has Susan Boyle gone already? That's a shame, she's done great hasn't she?" SuBo, you should have stuck around! Rod added: "Mr Cowell invited me to be part of this.

It's tragic and heartbreaking but we'll all do our best. "I can't think of a more fitting song than Everybody Hurts to cover the unimaginable tragedy that is Haiti."

Very true words indeed Rod...

TAKE THAT JOIN LINE-UP TO HELP HAITI

28th January 2010
By Kim Dawson and Gary Nicks

POP kings Take That joined the incredible line-up of stars singing to help Haiti’s tragic earthquake victims yesterday.

The manband laid down their vocals the charity track which is raising funds for the relief effort in the devastated country.

The lads – Gary Barlow, 39, Mark Owen, 38, Jason Orange, 39, and Howard Donald, 41 – are the latest to add their support to music mogul Simon Cowell’s hasty reworking of REM’s classic Everybody Hurts.

There were rumours that they would be reunited with superstar Robbie Williams, 35, who quit the band at the
height of their fame in 1995.

But the LA-based singer is expected to fit a in solo session in the studio by the end of the week.

The appeal has gone global as US rock legend Jon Bon Jovi, 47, added his voice to the single by going into a
studio in New York.

Canadian crooner Michael Bublé, 34, below, added to the international feel while Shane Filan, 30, of Irish boyband
Westlife and Aussie pop princess Kylie Minogue, 41, have also done their bit.

Rocker Rod Stewart is itching to hear the finished version after X Factor boss Simon, 50, asked him to
take part. Rod, 65, said: “Mr Cowell invited me to be part of this song.

“It’s tragic and heart-breaking, but we’ll all do our best.

“I’m looking forward to hearing the final version – it’s going to be some single.”

Rod also said he was delighted with the choice of song.

He added: “I can’t think of a more fitting song to convey the unimaginable tragedy that is Haiti. I hope the record sales raise a lot of money because the country certainly needs it.”

The roll call of stars recording for the single is growing by the day.

Among those involved are X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, 26, show winners Alexandra Burke, 21, Joe McElderry, 18, and Leona Lewis, 24, and chart- topping runners-up JLS. Stars including James Morrison, 25, Susan Boyle, 48, Miley Cyrus, 17, and Mika, 26, have also taken their turn.

Conditions remain hellish in Haiti more than two weeks after the quake killed an estimated 300,000 people.

Aid from around the world is causing stampedes among starving millions. And there were calls yesterday for
relief teams to stay with signs some countries are preparing to pack up.

There was tragic news for the family of missing Ann Barnes, who was confirmed as the second dead Brit.
The Foreign Office said the body of Ms Barnes, 59, originally from Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, had been identified.

She was in the Caribbean country working for the UN and was buried in the rubble of its headquarters in the
Haiti capital of Port-au-Prince.

Ms Barnes, who had no children, had a French partner on the island.

Haiti single Everybody Hurts due out on 7 February
Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams
Contributors Minogue and Williams previously duetted on the single Kids

Everybody Hurts, the all-star single recorded to raise money for victims of the Haiti earthquake, will be released on 7 February, it has been confirmed.

Parts of the song were recorded in London on Tuesday, while artists including Robbie Williams put down their vocals in Los Angeles.

The song was originally a 1993 hit for US band REM.

The final line-up of artists has also been confirmed and includes Michael Buble, Jon Bon Jovi and JLS.

The song will be available for download on 7 February and on CD single the day after.

JLS singer Ortise Williams, who lost relatives in the 12 January earthquake, said: "The tragedy is very close to my heart.

"It's great to be working with such talented artists all pulling together to make a difference through song."

Cheryl Cole said she hoped money raised would "help the people of Haiti rebuild their lives" while Rod Stewart said he could not think of "a more fitting song than Everybody Hurts to convey the unimaginable tragedy that is Haiti".

Simon Cowell, who organised the single, said it had been "an absolute priority for us all".

X Factor winners Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry also appear on the single alongside Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue and Miley Cyrus.

Take That, Mika, James Blunt, James Morrison, Susan Boyle and Westlife complete the line-up.

Half of the single's proceeds will go to the Sun's Helping Haiti fund and the rest will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee.

The 35-year-old singer is to record with his former band mates for the first time since he quit the group in 1995 after signing up for The Sun's Helping Haiti single.

Williams said he was honoured to be asked to contribute to the cover version of REM's ballad Everybody Hurts.

Celebrities sing

The track will feature a star-studded line-up with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Leona Lewis, JLS, James Blunt, Cheryl Cole and Joe McElderry taking part.

Williams told The Sun: "I'm very honoured to be asked to contribute to the single.

"We can all do something to help the people of Haiti - and I urge everyone to do what they can."

Williams and Take That are set to take part in a recording session in Los Angeles today but it is not known whether they will record their vocals together, or separately and have their voices mixed later.

Speculation about a reunion between Williams and former band mates Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange was fuelled by their appearance together on stage for the Children In Need gig at London's Albert Hall last November.

Simon Cowell's single

Pop and TV mogul Simon Cowell teamed up with the newspaper to mastermind the fund-raising effort, which should see the single released later this month.

Proceeds are to be split between the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and the Sun's Helping Haiti campaign.

REM will forgo royalties and the Government said VAT on the record will be waived to maximise revenues.

Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, Miley Cyrus, Alexandra Burke, Susan Boyle, Michael Buble, James Morrison and Mika are also among those performing.

Love is still there for Robbie

TAKE THAT and ROBBIE WILLIAMS continued their reunion plans over a takeaway at the singer's LA mansion on Wednesday.
GARY, HOWARD and JASON went to Rob's pad for a four-hour meet. My pic shows them climbing out of a car on his drive.

We revealed yesterday how the lads spent more than five hours in an LA studio on Tuesday working on comeback songs - 15 years after Robbie quit the group.

And a source revealed: "It's just like old times. Tuesday's session went great and they are planning on getting back in the studio soon."

Take That are working on their third comeback album while in LA - with fans hoping Rob will feature on the record.

But too much time in studios isn't good for the mind.

So Gaz and Howard took a break from sessions the following afternoon for a spot of retail therapy.

BOSSES at the Brit Awards were last night sensationally scrambling to showcase The Sun's Haiti charity single during next month's glittering ceremony.

The race came as Bon Jovi rushed to join the music industry Who's Who performing on the track in aid of the Caribbean earthquake victims.

The US rock legends completed a stunning line-up that already boasted Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Take That, Westlife, Mariah Carey and Rod Stewart.

Brits chiefs - who had practically finalised the tight schedule for the show on February 16 - held an unprecedented summit with production staff to include the all-star cast's poignant rendition of REM's Everybody Hurts.

A source confirmed: "A special production meeting was called to reconsider the running order to include the song.

"It's something that has NEVER happened before. But the events in Haiti have made everybody sit up and take notice."

The song's amazing cast could even be seen performing the single LIVE. Failing that, the aim is to show a video of them.

The single will boost our Helping Haiti appeal - which thanks to The Sun's big-hearted readers has topped Ј1million.

Its release is being masterminded by X Factor boss Simon Cowell, who set a target date of February 8 to get it on sale.

Meanwhile Miley Cyrus recorded her contribution in Los Angeles. Here in the UK Cheryl Cole performed her turn at London's Northern Sky studios.

Also taking the microphone - at the capital's SARM studios - were Rod Stewart, James Morrison, Mika, Alexandra Burke and Susan Boyle.

Susan said of the Haiti horror: "It is terrible what has happened and what is still happening.

"I'm very honoured to join all these big names and be given the chance to do something."

After debuting at #1 on the album sales chart this week, iTunes sales of the Hope For Haiti Now album, video and individual performances have raised more than $3 million for the relief efforts, Apple Inc. announced. Hope For Haiti Now is setting iTunes chart records as well, as it's the first project to simultaneously occupy the #1 spot on iTunes' U.S. album, song and TV charts all at once. It also became the first-ever digital-only album to top the Billboard Top 200 chart when it sold 171,000 in its opening frame.

Meanwhile, other musical relief efforts continue. The Simon Cowell-organized charity single "Everybody Hurts," a cover of the 1993 R.E.M. hit, has been confirmed for release as a download on February 7 and a CD on February 8. The tune will feature vocal contributions from Jon Bon Jovi, Mariah Carey, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Mika and more.

Dave Matthews Band

Additionally, Dave Matthews Band today released a five-song digital EP to benefit their Bama Works Haiti Relief Fund. The Haiti Relief Project EP features five previously unreleased live tracks from Dave Matthews Band: "Butterfly," "Cry Freedom," "Out Of My Hands," "Lying In The Hands Of God" and "Dive In." The EP is available now for $5 at DMBLive.com. Furthermore, all proceeds from merchandise sales made in the Warehouse and the band's official online store on Friday, January 29 will go to the Relief Fund.

Phish also will release their November 19, 1992 show from Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, VT to benefit Haiti. According to LivePhish.com, the show features 28 songs plus four tracks from sound check, including "Weigh" and "Caravan."

As previously reported, an updated version of "We Are The World," featuring Usher, Natalie Cole and John Legend, also is expected to be released as a charity single for Haiti.
