MARK ON FOOD: “The lads, especially J, are always on at me for not eating enough. If I leave even a few chips on my plate, Jason’s starting at it going, “C’mon Marky, you can manage those few!” It’s not that I don’t like eating, but sometimes I forget, and when I do eat, I get full up quickly. I’m only little!”
MARK ON BEING IN TAKE THAT: “I definitely think if I had to choose all over again, I would do this again. But only if it was with the same people. I couldn’t do it with different people. It would have to be us five.”
MARK ON MARRIAGE: “I want to get married one day. I don’t really have any great ambitions. This is my ambition come true - being in Take That. I know it’ll be a long time before I get married, but when I do, my idea of pure bliss is just to have a nice little house, a wife, and a dog.”
MARK ON HIS CHILDHOOD: “I remember on my fourth birthday I was smacked and sent to bed because I thought I could get away with anything! | Еще многие фаны не могут понять, почему ТТ распались. БРАВО решило поговорить с Марком, которого девчонки любили больше всех. Это было прощальное интервью, так как больше он никогда не будет Марком из ТТ (хе-хе, но мы то знаааем). В самолете царит ужасное волнение - здесь ТТ! Марк, Гари, Говард и Джейсон вынуждены раздавать автографы. "Как мне будет не хватать шума вокруг нас",- смеется Марк.
Он немного печален. На нем белые штаны и черный, излишне большой свитер. Счастлив ли он? "радуюсь за каждый день, как будто он последний",- говорит Марк после небольшой паузы. - "Мы все живем в мечтах, не надо поддаваться хорошему или плохому настроению. Все когда-нибудь проходит." Это какие-то через чур серьезные слова для общепризнанного Mr. Nice Guy, как его здесь называют.
После ухода Робби, Марк очень изменился. Всегда несмелый и спокойный, теперь он стал клоуном, который при каждой возможности шутит и глупо выпендривается. Но за таким шутливым фасадом скрывается страх, связанный с распадом ТТ: "Я так много плакал в последнее время!",- признается Марк.
Думал ли ты когда-нибудь, что распад ТТ - ошибка?
Вы думаете, что я подумал6 "О, черт!". Нет, я уверен, что это было правильное решение. С Самого начала мы думали, что успокоимся лишь достигнув всего. Только так мы могли остаться в памяти фэнов. Если мой соло-альбом будет неудачным, я останусь без денег и друзей, и вот тогда-то я и подумаю "О, черт! зачем же мы так сделали?"
Сколько правды в слухах о том, что ты хочешь записать альбом с Робби?
Не буду я петь с Робби! да, я сним несколько раз разговаривал после нашего распада, но... должен сказать... это все меня несколько разочаровало.
Под "это" ты имеешь ввиду статью в САН, в которой Робби рассказывал о том, как ты спрятался в шкафу, когда он с фэнкой залезал в окно номера?
Я этого не читал, но мне об этом рассказывал Гари. Эта история просто глупость. мы тогда были молодые, нам было по 19 лет, и мы любили развлекаться, но никогда при этом никого не используя. Немного бесились, играли в кошки-мышки с нашим менеджером, но никогда никому не причиняли вреда.
Но Робби говорит, что ты был его единственным другом в ТТ?
Робби говорит, что он мой друг, но при этом так себя не ведет. Не смотря на то, друг ли он из двора или из группы, друг бы никогда не рассказал бы подобные вещи о ком-то, кому это может навредить. Моим друзьям я доверяю на все сто процентов. А они могут доверять мне. Конечно, я тоже могу рассказать много, но не стану этого делать. Почему же Робби рассказывает всякое такое? Просто не понимаю его. Если сейчас бы встретил его, то поздоровался бы с ним, как со старым другом. Ведь человек учится прощать своих друзей, хоть это и не легко!
Робби не жалеет, что слишком рано ушел из группы?
Он получил столько же, сколько и мы, после распада ТТ. у него было столько возможностей, чтобы начать свою сольную карьеру (хе-хе, но мы то знаааем). Считаю, что он упустил много времени и натворил много глупостей. Я разочаровался в нем, но, конечно, он - мой друг.
Жалеешь ли ты о чем-то, что произошло за последние 5 лет?
Жаль, что мы до конца не были впятером. И жаль, что стало столько много проблем, после ухода Робби.
Каковы твои планы на соло-карьеру?
Пишу песни. У меня уже 16 песен, хотя я и не так хорош в этом деле, как Гари. Мне тексты легче приходят в голову, чем музыка. Поэтому работаю с двумя композиторами. Скоро будем искать продюсера.
Твой соло-сингл появится в начале лета?
Сначала я так и хотел сделать, но затем решил, что сначала запишу весь альбом, а потом выберу композицию для первого сингла. Возможно, это будет перед Рождеством. Для меня главное качество альбома и мне все равно, когда он выйдет: через 6 месяцев или через 2 года. Вообще-то, я не спешу.
Каковы твои шансы на соло-карьеру?
Я очень надеюсь. надо верить в себя, не смотря ни на что. В ТТ я пел только баллады, как, например, ВАВЕ. Может мне лучше выпустить альбом лишь с переделками этой песни?! Я запишу разные песни, не только баллады. Я был обижен, когда Гари сказал мне, что я не смогу петь в Back for good, т.к. это плохо звучит. И тогда я понял, что нельзя довольствоваться "недоделками". Я ставлю перед собой высокие цели.
Как насчет свадьбы?
Я, конечно, об этом думал, но сначала я должен встретить нужную девушку. А пока у меня слишком мало времени. Хотя, может все и изменится...

| Me and my record collection: Mark Owen -2003
#1 The Stone Roses - Stone Roses (1989): Records are memories for me. This reminds me of going out in my local town, Odham. with flared trousers, a flowery T-shirt and a curtain haircut. The whole Madchester thing was going at the time. When I first got this record, I was listening to Ian Brown singing ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ and it drew me straight in. Ian was like an icon.
#2 Rufus Wainwright - Poses (2001): I think Rufus is really a poet. His style of music is quite cabaret and his writing is humorous. What first drew me was the lyrics. It’s pretty much based around New York and going out for late nights. Cigarettes And Chocolate Milk is about indulgences and how all the good things in life are really bad for you.
#3 Madonna - Like a prayer (1989): I remember seeing the controversial video to the title track with burning crosses and so on. It’s a powerful song. One of my first crushes was on Madonna, and she was a massive inspiration for me and Take That.
#4 R.E.M. - Automatic for people (1992): I’ve got most of R.E.M. records. they’re a big influence lyrically. I don’t understand half of what Michael Stipe says, but you translate into what you think and it’s perfect! This album is filled with great songs like ‘Man On The Moon’ and ‘Everybody Hurts’, a song which I think it will be around forever.
#5 Alanis Morisette - Jaded Little Pill (1995): This is definitely one of my favourite albums of the last 10 years. A few tracks are basically slating guys. But it’s very melodic - you can sing along to every song - and one of the most powerful ladies’ record for a long time.
#6 Radiohead - OK Computer (1997): I became a Radiohead fan with the album ‘The Bends’, then I bought ‘Pablo Honey’. I love how the guitars soar through it. Radiohead are now my favourite band and I could go on about them all day.
#7 Lauyn Hill - The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill (1994): I got into The Fugees through tracks like ‘Ready Or Not’ and ‘Killing Me Softly’. Then I got so into Lauryn Hill when this record came out. My girlfriend at the time went out and bought it, and it was on continually. It felt to me like listening to a new classic.
#8 Nirvana - Nevermind (1991): This probably pops up on everybody’s list, but not for this reason. Nirvana saved my lizard. I bought an iguana and for two days it didn’t move. Then I put ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ on and it came to life. That’s when I knew this was a great record. I called my iguana Nirvana after that.
#9 Jeff Buckley - Grace (1999): When I heard this I though, ‘What a voice!’. Actually I thought it was a woman at first. I went out and bought a video/DVD, and it looked like he didn’t have to try hard. Everything I do is with such effort!.
#10 Oasis - What’s the Story Morning Glory (1995): The whole Britpop thing seemed really exciting. I’ve met Liam a few times and he’s always been very cool. Noel once said I could do some handclaps on one of his records if I wanted and I was like, ‘No, I’m alright, thanks’.

- I would like to be a fighter pilot, but the RAF said I was far too small
- Robbie always buys the same things as me - he always copies.
- I like people playing around with my ears.
… - I’d like to look like Howard because he looks like Jesus.
- Round our area more people know my brother than me.
- Jason’s the worst to go shopping with because he’s so choosy!
- I kissed the examiner when he said I’d passed my driving test.

Soccer Aid: Owen eyes England win
Take That star Mark Owen tells ManUtd.com he's determined to make a winning Soccer Aid debut at Old Trafford on Sunday evening...
We’ve heard you’re a decent player - what experience do you have?
It was always my dream to be a footballer when I was a kid and I actually had a trial at United. I used to play for Hollinwood FC youth team and Brian Kidd came to watch a few of us and invited us to play a game at The Cliff against United’s youth team. I remember Giggsy was playing and so was Darren Ferguson. It was a brilliant game of football and very close… er, they beat us 11-1 - needless to say none of us made with United!
What position do you play?
I’m usually in midfield or up front; I used to see myself as a bit of a Peter Beardsley. My biggest inspiration has always been Diego Maradona and I’m probably a bit of a flair player, although I can get stuck in when I need to. I’ve never really been a prolific goalscorer – that’s what has let me down. I’m much better at setting goals up rather than scoring them – you can put me down as England’s playmaker!
How will playing at Old Trafford compare to playing a concert with Take That?
It’ll be a bit heavier on the legs! I played in another charity match at United a long time ago and it’s certainly an amazing place to play football. I also played with Bryan Robson in a charity event - he was our captain and we actually won the tournament. I’ve been taught by the best so hopefully I won’t make a complete fool of myself at Soccer Aid!
