“There’s no plans to do a tour like the last one I did,” Williams said. “I know what happens to me and where it takes me and which rehab I end up in. I will tour again but it won’t be any time soon.”

Evidently Williams is well-acquainted with his personal demons. The 35-year-old singer told the press he will always be prone to addiction.

“I have that mechanism inside of me that enjoys not choosing life, that has it inbuilt in my DNA to want to get high,” Williams said. “I don’t think that ever leaves. I’m sure it won’t.”

Williams also described the touring life as “a really unnatural situation to find yourself in.”

“It’s such high highs in front of that many people at the stadiums… and then you go back to the hotel and you go, oh, I’ve eaten the mini-bar again and the Internet isn’t doing what it should do and I’m bored with that.

“After nine months of living in an air-conditioned room and just going to the gig you kind of crack a bit. You lose the plot.”

The singer cancelled parts of his 2006 'Close Encounters' tour due to exhaustion and recently revealed that he checked into rehab following the "nerve-wracking" stint.

Williams, 35, said that it was unlikely that he would go on a live jaunt in the near future, adding: "I've smashed my head against a wall too many times and I know it's harder than I am."

However, WENN reports that the star, who will perform alongside Olly Murs on tonight's X Factor, has had a chance of heart and told fans at a London gig that a jaunt is imminent.

"I will be going on tour. That will be happening. When, where, I don't know. But it will be happening. Definitely before 2012," he said.

Talking live on GMTV this morning. Speaking on the breakfast TV show, Robbie said: "At the moment there’s a big tour planned and I’m looking forward to it".

But when asked when it would be, the singer admitted: "Not next year, the year after"’.

However, he refused to confirm or deny that he was joining the programme as a judge.

Robbie joked: "I’d like to confirm that that’s a goer… no, I’m alright for the time being!"

Robbie confessed: "X Factor has been the centre of the universe for the last 2 months.

"Me and the Mrs, we’ve been watching it every Saturday and every Sunday and voting and getting excited and upset when our favourites go etc, etc."

Robbie also denied recent rumours that he recently got engaged to girlfriend Ayda Field, which even had his mum Jan convinced that he son was set to walk up the aisle.

He then likened his lady to a phone application for Christmas shopping saying, "She’s gone out and done everything. She’s like an app that you get that does everything for you – it’s brilliant."

The ex Take That singer management company, IE have already started planning a tour, which is rumoured to be a huge tour to celebrate the return of Robbie Williams, but there could be one big problem with the tour, it may not include Robbie Williams.

Robbie has made his feelings clear that he does not want to tour at the moment, but his management company have told him he needs to tour. At the moment there is a stalemate, Robbie says he does not want to tour while IE say he has to tour and neither side are backing down.

A source at IE management have said: “Robbie was dead against the idea, although now he is slowly coming around to the idea but to be honest unless Robbie says yes he is 100% behind the tour, it will not go ahead.”

The management company behind Robbie want to capitalise on the huge success of his return album and have told the star that his fans want to see him back out on the road.

Although Robbie loves his fans, he is worried about going on tour and fears his dreaded stage fright, which in the past has made him ill.

The tour in 2006 had a number of dates cancelled which was down to illness that included his stage fright fear and Robbie knows if he goes out on tour again, he has to be 100% fit as he does not want to let down his fans, but the memories of his last tour with the stage fright does scare him.

Fans of Robbie Williams have been asking for months if he will tour again, fearing comments made by the star that he may never tour again, may be true. But if his management have anything to do with it, a tour will be announced very shortly and the tickets will be guaranteed to sell out within hours.

The pop superstar is still not sure if he wants to go on the road, but bosses have already begun finalising plans.

He is being urged to commit to a series of shows to promote his latest album Reality Killed the Video Star starting in November, but so far he's refusing to entertain the idea.

A source said: "Tempers are fraying because Robbie is non-commital at the moment.

"He's made no secret that he doesn't want to tour this time round but his management firm, IE Management, are keen to get him out after such a successful comeback.

"He is beginning to come round to the idea but is still unsure.

"People are becoming restless."

I don't blame him for being apprehensive. He has admitted suffering from crippling stage fright so will also have to face up to one of his ultimate fears by going back out on the road.

His last tour in 2006 is littered with painful memories. He was battling a drug addiction and had to cancel a string of dates.

Last year he confessed to me that he used to guzzle "heart-stopping" quantities of prescription drugs.

Since then Robbie has rebuilt his life and himself.

But although he's not keen on touring, he is softening his stance.

At his one-hour show organised by Heart radio as part of Heart Love Music Live on Thursday last week, Robbie was asking fans whether they'd watch him again.

Quizzing the audience, he said: "Who wants to see me on tour? I might do one later this year.

"Would any of you come and see me? If I do do it, I won't be on drugs this time."

Seeing as 2.4million fans applied for just 300 seats at the London gig, I don't think he'll have any problem shifting tickets.

Perhaps he should sit down and write a pros and cons list.

I could think of a few for him.

The pros: the buzz of being on the road, millions of fans screaming your name, plus mountains of cash.

The cons: stage fright, the stress of being on the road, missing the dogs and LA lifestyle and putting on hold DVD nights with the cracking missus.

If I was him, I'd get this tour out of the way and concentrate full-time on golf, five-a-side football and baby making...
