| Robbie Williams has lifted the lid on his upcoming ninth album, Take The Crown - his first for Island/Universal.
The LP will be released on November 5, and contains tracks including Be A Boy, Shit On The Radio, All That I Want and Losers (featuring Lissie). It was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Jacknife Lee, whilst featured orchestra parts were recorded at the fabled Capitol Studios in LA.
“After the Take That reunion – a busman’s holiday, a break from my career which re-energised me in many, many ways – I wanted to come back with a massive solo album," said Williams. "My main priority was to write what I consider, and hopefully what the world would consider, to be hits. I’m very excited”.
The first single from Take The Crown will be Candy, co-written by Gary Barlow. The track will be released on October 29.
Said Williams: “It’s a summer song, about a girl who thinks she’s great. And she might be, but she’s a bit nefarious with her ways. Some songs take an age to write and some songs just fall out of your mouth completely formed, and you don’t have to think about it. I don’t know why that fell out of my mouth and out of my brain at that particular time – it just did”.
Williams has sold more than 60 million albums in his solo career and won 17 Brit awards - more than any other artist in history.
He rejoined Take That in 2010 and was a key part of their multi-platinum Progress album and record-breaking associated tour.
The star announced in October last year that he was leaving long-term record label EMI as a solo artist and that he had signed a worldwide album deal with Universal.
Universal Music UK chairman & CEO David Joseph said at the time: "Having had the chance to listen to the music I've no doubt that Robbie is currently at his most creatively inspired. We are about to witness something very special."
Take The Crown will be Williams first album since 2009, when he released Reality Killed The Video Star - a product which went platinum across Europe, but was also the first solo album of his career not to hit No.1 on the Official UK chart.

| Robbie Williams has teamed up with his Take That bandmate Gary Barlow once more to write his next single.
The duo have collaborated on new track Candy to be released next month, the first single from Williams's ninth studio album.
The pair have previously worked together on their joint single Shame two years ago, in addition to their Take That work.
Announcing his new single today, Williams said: "Some songs take an age to write and some songs just fall out of your mouth completely formed, and you don't have to think about it.
"I don't know why that fell out of my mouth and out of my brain at that particular time - it just did."

| Новый альбом Робби Уильямса (Robbie Williams) «Take The Crown» выйдет 5 ноября — сообщает официальный сайт певца.
Это первый сольный альбом британца после участия в реюнионе Take That. Реюнион даром не прошел: альбомный сингл «Candy» для Робби написал его напарник по постаревшему бойз-бенду Гэри Барлоу (Gary Barlow).
Пластинка будет доступна в двух вариантах, с двумя обложками, подчеркивающими иронию Уильямса над собственным статусом: стандартная «Regal» с бронзовым профилем Робби и выпускаемая ограниченным тиражом «Roar», где тот же «бронзовый профиль» заходится в крике. Выйдет и делюксовая версия, она будет потолще обычной на две песни и три клипа о записи альбома.
Журнал Music Week первым оценил «Take The Crown» и обещает нам россыпь «больших поп-хитов» на диске. Хорошо, если так: большие поп-хиты — это то, чего Уильямсу в последние годы не хватало.

| Robbie Williams has every right to record as much music as he wants to, from now until he finally gives in to his transparent desire to blow himself up on stage, while doing a hip-swivel, winking, sticking his tongue out, and catching the hand-held mic he's been spinning in the air.
There may be plenty of reasons to be frustrated at his career; the swing album, the bitter songs about being in Take That, the cynical songs about the media and drugs, those preposterous one-liners, the arrogance, the self-hate; but at his best, he has been a fantastic pop star.
But the thing with fantastic pop stars is they never quite know when enough is enough. Ever since he elected to promote the album Rudebox (much better than its sales would indicate) with the single Rudebox (phenomenally irritating), Robbie has struggled to add anything to his stockpile of noteworthy hits, and while his decision not to rejoin Take That when they first reformed may have been taken from a position of strength, his decision to rethink that decision certainly wasn’t.
They made an album, Progress, which was admirable in some ways, but light on truly great songs. And when it came to touring, Robbie’s section of the concert was devoted to his old solo hits: Let Me Entertain You, Come Undone, Feel, and Angels.
So while he has every right to announce, as he just has, the release of a new album (Take The Crown, out on November 5th), the good news for people with ears is that we have every right to ignore it. After all, he can only take his career in one of three directions.
He can innovate, change his sound, create a whole new sonic playground for himself, while crossing his fingers that enough of his old fanbase get what he's on about, and steeling himself for another backlash.
Or he can try and re-establish his musical footprint, record a bunch of solid, melodic arena rock songs with uplifting choruses and classic instrumentation. He can call them She’s The Two, Millenniums, or Let Me Continue To Entertain You.
Worst of all, he could try and engage with modern pop music. He could enlist Calvin Harris, record a duet with Ke$ha, with a guest rap from Pitbull. After years of determinedly standing out, he could find himself having to fit in, in order to appear relevant.
And the fact is, he isn't relevant; not any more. He's a married pop recluse in LA. He runs a celebrity football team. He's buried the hatchet with Gary Barlow and put his bile to bed.
Which only leaves the question: what is there left to sing about, and who is going to be there to listen?

"We got asked to play football at Robbie Williams's house, but we couldn't do it because we had stuff to do," drummer Ben Johnston told NME.
Neil added: "I got asked to play a solo on his record too, but I turned it down. I wish all the best for Robbie, but I don't think he needs my help.
"Bizarrely, I think Slash is going to play the solo now, which makes the whole thing cooler."
Biffy Clyro were originally planning to release their new double album Opposites later this year, but have now pushed it back to 2013.
Meanwhile, Robbie Williams will release his new record Take the Crown in the UK on November 5.
